The Ulthar Adventure
The players wake up as normal with Magnar's house, Arne's house, the Apothecary's building, and the Eschbach Shields tavern all by the eastern gate of Ulthar. There they find the Eschbach Shields is called the Ulthar Catspaws. Baldwin and the usual groups seem to be there and know them but are all Tabaxi.
Plot points/Scenes
The players waken up and Magnar is woken up by Anselma, a Persian cat chasing Owle a Tabby cat on the bed. He goes out and Arne's house has a tree with some cats of different kinds living in it. Next door to Magnar is the Apothecary where Archi is , and Edwardo is there too, with Hilda their pet tiger in the basement. The Eschbach Shields is there but named The Ulthar Catspaws, with Baldwin and the other staff all as Tabaxi.
If they try other places it looks like they're in the white stoned city of Ulthar and seem to have always lived here their whole lives. The majority of the people they know seem to be cats, and the odd inhabitant by the usual names but different personalities.
Everything seems quite normal to them and nothing seems amiss.
Given time they will make their way to a temple of cats & Bast where they are informed that within the city there is a cult to the Star Gods hidden below in the deep sewers and many of the cats can't get down there due to the dangers there. Told by the priests, there is a book down there that was originally split up over the different Bast temples called the Pnakotic Manuscripts and a few pages are left in another place called Tara.
These were stolen by cultists and monsters that came at night. Also, a good number of cats were killed and the city wants vengeance for that.
The players can go after this and would be doing the city a great service and they can always take what they need from the Pnakotic Manuscripts. Plus there's always some minor treasure & cash available if these manuscripts are returned intact.
They will go down and eventually find a number of ways in guarded by traps, cultists and the corrupted. There they will find a leader, a Star Spawn Larva Mage, and they may need to kill her before getting the manuscripts.
Upon their return they can examine the book for spells, receiving one each, and a few treasure tidbits.
When they go to sleep they will waken back up in Eschbach again and everything is back to normal except for additional treasure and spells.
