The Society of the Crying Cloud Giant
The Society of the Crying Cloud Giant is a charitable organisation given over to stop others from invading Cloud Giant domains by way of Magic Bean Stalks. Based in some of the largest cities in Europe, it looks to collect all magic beans in the regions it operates, and to comfort Cloud Giants who have had their lives disrupted from young men who wander into their domains.
Structure
Created originally after one of the member's grandson, called Jack, ended up harming a peaceful Cloud Giant, the Order has no hierarchical structure. They are a group of elderly ladies based in Norfolk in Britain who have decided, by means of voting, to help Cloud Giants who are aggrieved by the young in their settlement and beyond.
Culture
The Anglo-Saxon ladies that make up the Society believe that all Cloud Giants deserve to be left alone to bring good weather to the ground. By doing so they willingly preach about the need to leave these beings alone at all cost.
Public Agenda
They publicly state their views and advise ways to avoid enraging or harming Cloud Giants. Members regularly seek out young men and adventurers to teach them, whether publicly or privately, how to avoid Cloud Giants and how to deal with one respectfully & peacefully. They also want to show that Cloud Giants just want to be left alone.
Assets
The Society is made up of a number of ladies of different levels of society in southern Anglo-Saxon regions primarily in Norfolk with minor chapters appearing in northern Frankia and Saxony. They have networks of those who proselyte in public and those with the means to money will have pamphlets made to post on public boards and in inns & taverns.
Each cell will have at least one member who has a large building such as a barn. There they use it to make speeches and teach others about dealing with Cloud Giants, along with how to avoid meeting one in the first place.
History
The Society of the Cloud Giant started early in 801 AD after an incident in the southern British region of Norfolk. A young man working on a local farm, and tried to sell some of the livestock to a travelling Hedge Wizard. The hedge wizard had no money in which to pay, so handed over a pouch of magic beans, warning the young man named Jack. Handing it over, the hedge wizard, he warned Jack to be careful with the beans as these can act in odd ways.
Not believing half the warning, Jack planted one of the beans in a field to see. Looking after it he found the following morning that a huge thick beanstalk had grown up high into the clouds above. Wondering what to do, Jack decided in his foolishness to climb the beanstalk to see where it went. After a few hours climbing, he reached the top.
Here he found the top of the beanstalk had captured a cloud of strange material within it's uppermost branches.
Stepping onto the cloud, Jack took a look around soon finding a huge building made of what appeared to be solidified cloud. Pushing open the door, with it being a struggle in itself due to it's size & weight, he made a surprise.
Inside was a massive building with many great pieces of furniture and many precious items. Taking it all in, he decided to take a couple of rings that could easily fit on his head. From there he made his way down to the ground.
Examining the rings over the night, Jack was sure both rings were magical. Exactly what they done was beyond him.
When morning broke a massive storm hit the farm he worked on destroying much of the crops that were due to be collected. Only this farm was hit, and no others. There was damage caused by something walking around the farm, something huge, and massive parts of the beanstalk was damaged by something climbing down it.
Unable to work out what this was, Jack got a shock when a booming voice came out of the pounding rain. Heavy footsteps followed and Jack could barely stand.
Walking out of the rain was a massive pale humanlike figure many many feet taller that Jack. Male and powerfully built it had to crouch down to get a good look at Jack. Then it spoke nearly deafening Jack. It demanded it's rings back as both helped him maintain his kingdom in the clouds which was starting to disintegrate and turn to rain.
Jack quickly pointed to the barn where he had placed the rings. The giant collected both rings,, turning round to Jack explaining that one was his deceased wife's and the rain is caused by his sorrow over losing her.
The Cloud Giant then departed back up the beanstalk saying that it should be removed and the bean dug up before it grows again.
Jack chopped down the beanstalk immediately and dug up the bean. Taking it and the bag of beans to the elders. None but the ladies of the court and some of the local women were aghast about what happened. Jack was punished enough, according to them, with the destruction of his crops.
The ladies recorded this all down and made a pact that they should spread the word that these types of Giants should be left alone in peace.
Taking to the streets of settlements they preach all they can, saying that the world needs the giants whether for better or worse. They also help out giants & giant-kin where they can to aid these species where possible. They have spread these beliefs to other neighbouring regions and making some inroads in northern Frankia & Saxony .
