The Baobhan Sith

Appearing superficially as human, the Baobhan Sith has a couple of major differences. The first and most obvious when noticed is their legs end in goat-like hooves, something they regularly cover up with clothing. The second is more disturbing and generally gives away their true nature. This is where their canine teeth are needle-like and are born with them sheathed in their gums. Other than that they generally have a human or humanlike layout, along with most with individuals beign different heights, hair / eye colour and slightly different builds.

They are able to breed at any time between the years of 12-13 to 45-50. One child is carried at a time for roughly 42 weeks / 9 months, being born defenceless except for the ability to give a nasty bite to unexpecting creatures who are unaware for the cainine teeth.

Growing the same rate as a human they start as a baby, then toddle at about age 2 to 3 then child about 5 give or take. From there adolescence hits abut 12 years old, then finally growing to adulthood about 20 years old. Sueviving to eldery age is not uncommon, and the average age at death is anywhere between 60 to 100 years old dependig on the condition of the adult.

The Baobhan Sith are Fey first and foremost. Although appearing human they are predators first of all, and regularly feed on other Fey creatures, and sapient creatures of Earth. Usually found in small colonies in and around the Feywild they are ruled over by a King * Queen to control the majority, and most are split into clan lines tracing their way back to a single founding mother.    Since males are incredibly rare and onky a couple are born every year they revere such births and are seen as auspicious for the community the child is born in. Most males lead a sheltered life far away from most others, and are used to populate & impregnate the others of theior species. These males usually gow strong and determined as the rest will train the males to act as protectprs of the young and their settlements, something they take very seriously. Usually the male to female ratio is 1:450 (male:female).   They regularly hire themselves out to other Fey, especially Hags and Barovian Witches tas assassins, information gathers, and bodyguards. This is something the Hags exploit to full effect and as usual always favours the Hag in some unfathomable way

The Baobhan Sith can eat & drink like any other Fey or Human, though they find it repulsive. Their main sustenance comes from blood, thus the modified canine teeth. This they use to tear apart a victim to feast on their liefeblood. Coupled with the ablilty to turn into a crow or raven at will, they can taverse a long distance. Using portals to Earth they can appear at any time but prefer to wait until someone dreams of female companionship and are draw to that like a moth to a flame. Also, with the ability to glamour their victims these Sith can easily dominate most. Usually done at night, the Baobhan Sith hate sunlight and appear to be injured by it sticking to the darkness of the Feywild and Earth.

The Baohan Sith are apex predators from where they come from in the Feywild, and respect those more powerful than themselves. They follow a clan system similar to the Celtic peoples they primarily interact with, and they are matriarchal primarily. They respect Hags and the Unseelie Court above themselves.   They can be notoriously aggressive and even devious when called for. Any sentient life beyond the Dark Fet is fair game and even elements of the Dark Fey are too. Usually this is 'lesser lifeforms' when these Sith deem others to be so. They are given to feed often and enjoy their vampiric nature and the terror this brings in their prey.   Given that they are unsure as to where this vampirism comes from, they generally don't think too much about it. Given that it is a mystery to them they believe it unimportant.

Every Baobhan Sith has a standard range of sensory abilities except one, the smell of iron is off-putting and can override their sense of smell. This causes them to aboid it generally, and can be used to cover the smell of blood from a living creature.

The Baobhan Sith have existed for countless millennia in the Feywild, and remain one of the most dangerous of their kind. They are apex predators and their ancestors were censured by the Seelie Council before being driven out to regions of the Feywild where the Dark Fey are found. The Unseelie Council took them in and have served them ever since.   Their exact origin is uncertain, yet fragmentary stories speak of an early 'First Man' from Earth came to the Feywild carrying a disease. This dieases proved to be the beginning of their people, and he bred with some of the Eladin that lived there. Spreading the disease through reproductin caused the young of these Elves to develop into bloodthirsty indviduals but rendered the vast majority as female. Why this is remains uncertain, though is likely caused as a genetic sideeffect. Some speculate it's a curse by the Seelie Council to reduce the numbers of the Baobhan Sith making it harder to "breed true" in hope the species eventually reaches the point none of them can birth any more.   Whatever the reason, the Baobhan Sith survive to this day in relatively high enough numbers to be a speciific breed of Fey.   During their history they encountered a portal to another world, one that led to the country of the Picts, and eastern Scotti. There they still prey on those that dream of the touch of a woman during nighttime hours. Using the ability to shapeshift into crows & ravens, and the ability to glamour those they meet, these Sith soon became a nightmare made flesh to these people. Now as part of the folklore of these Celtic people, the Baohban Sith have also heard of other regions that they can feast one.   At the same time, the Hags of the Fey entered the scene, and worked out plans to use the Baobhan Sith as assassins, infiltrators, and bodyguards. So far the Baobhan Sith has proved too valuable to the Hags and the latter has used their influence to have the Baobhan Sith protected by the Unseelie Court. Exactly what the Hags get out of this is relatively unknown, though most can easily guess it will end baldy for the Baobhan Sith if it came to that.   This also has led to the Baohban Sith now spreading to other regions of Earth with their Hag "Grannies & Aunties".
