Star Spawn Corruption

The corruption seems to be created when the sun, the moon, planets and/or stars themselves seem to align in a pattern seen from the Earth. Sometimes mistook for the Milky Way, these patterns appear oddly hypnotic, and to many, painful on the eyes. Headaches, eyestrain, and migraines are quickly reported after it starts.

If seems that the alignment shifts through an unknown set of patterns a rare few scholars point to these appearing like symbols & sigils found in Deep Speech. These appear over a number of seconds to minutes before disappearing. The same scholars mention it would be worse if it lasted any length of time believing that it could spell doom for all life.

When the initial effects are reported, sometimes a few people will experience their bodies warp and twist in unnatural ways, Bones and muscles twist, breathing appears different, hair & skin appear on the inside of the body, the mouth will disappear and reappear elsewhere, any number of strange bodily contortions.

These contortions are noted in that Star Spawn themselves are barely affected, and generally refer to it on the physical bodies & minds of living creatures within the vicinity of the conjunction. Some of the effects are permanent and if once affected, the chance of it happening increased and more pronounced.

All of these are welcomed by cultists who worship the Star Spawn & Gods. They try to map out where & when it will be visible again or create it using ritual magic. They do not care that others are affected, looking on it as a blessing upon the uninitiated, though if detected, most authorities react quickly to find the cult involved and kill them by blade or by fire.

Either way, the earth and the stars remember, and the minds & bodies of those left with the effects never forget. Forever shall they remember the earth itself transformed into a twisted parody of life, where creatures & plants are warped beyond recognition, and horrifying miles high creatures tower over these scenes, gibbering and moving their gelatinous bodies not found in nature.

This can happen at any time in any part of the world, but generally meant to happen in places once tied to the Star Gods and their children.

In a number of instances, ritual spells seem to cause the same effect, with the greater number of practitioners the more effective the ritual.
