Session 66: Little Red Undead Report
General Summary
Everybody is well rested after the previous night's hunt for the Shadow Crystal. Timble, having missed it as nobody could find hum, gets up first getting the usual chicken for breakfast.
Arne gets woken up by Magnar, they discuss the crystal with Arne using it now as a bookend. They dander round to the Eschbach Shields where they are beaten in by Archi.
When there they tell Timble what happened and proceed from there to the town hall looking for work.
Once there, they find that the Girl in Red, and the dog, has been busy, showing up at the church and the grove. Her name is Enneduanna and has a strong Middle Eastern accent. She mentioned the Court of the Pale queen and that the people of the town could be given the gift of immortality if they want.
Also, it is mentioned that livestock has been killed mysteriously up round farmland north west of the town and Enneduanna was seen up that area. There is an overgrown cemetery there left by the Romans after a battle with a Germanic tribe.
Setting out they come across an area of overgrowth and just north a farm belonging to a Halfling farm. A couple of goats have been killed with little remaining of the latest and when examined by Magnar & Timble they see that the remains have been attacked by a strong predator along with little blood left. Timble finds a route through the overgrowth to the remains of the cemetery.
When he gets the team, they find a burial has had the remains removed and something had resided in it. Three skeletons rise in the remains of their legionnaire weapons & armour. Quickly destroyed, Timble initially shows off his high jump skills by accident.
He prods around and finds pretty much everything else is as it should be and the three skeletons are 'guardians' for the cemetery. Moving off through a 'path' of sorts to the road they find the remains of the skeletal remains of the legionnaire that were removed from it's grave. Also, it looks as if whatever came this way dusted itself off before travelling south.
They make town in late afternoon, and see that the Burgeaters are out in force trying to find two of their own, who didn't report in when their night shift ended. Timble & Magnar help to look for the who men (Allan & Stefan).
Timble finds them buried under leaves twigs and the like and they get the remaining Burgeaters & Father Tossil. The latter is able to tell that the two men have been bitten on the necks and barely alive. Took to the jail to be kept there until healed they may be killed if they turn.
Timble finds a Roman waterway in this side of town, with it's iron bars broken outwards. He enters with Archi making their way to a crossroads. To the east, they find another grate that's broken outwards and south of the grove.
To the east they find that it is still undamaged and by the river.
To the south they find a similar grate a few meters south of the old town near Magnar's. It looks as if there has been movement towards the south western road. This brings them to the road just south of the local mine.
Here they talk to some guards who say they interacted with a young girl and a dog going north. They said to her she shouldn't be out in darkness and to go home.
Going north they see the girl & dog being held up by some Burgeater guards stopping her getting to the church and grove.
Timble approaches saying that he is sick of chasing her and what does she want.
Enneduanna turns and says she is there it offer immortality to Eschbach and since there is hostility she'll leave and return in 7 days. Then she starts to walk away to the east.
At this time, Timble shoots the dog with an arrow, and it turns & charges. Enneduanna, turns and charges too. They get damaged & held up by magic and the party eventually kills them.
The dog's body is lying there and Enneduanna turns into a mist and goes north. Archi is annoyed he can't soul trap her.
They go to the council and inform them that it's been dealt with. They get to relax and paid.
Except as to where this mist went?
