Session 60: Getting Archi Back

General Summary

The party is in a fight against a Viking Paladin called Wayland. Rikard gets a couple of hits in before his axe is grabbed, and then takes a few strong hits. Magnar attacks next and gets insulted saying that he is not the champion the Viking thought. Wayland was initially invisible until hit.

Both are aware they were here and already in combat after a Viking raid made it down the Rhine and trade caravans had been raided.

Wayland gets hit by Timble and is worked out to be resistant to necrotic & radiant damage. Keller is forced into a support rule, and Arne places a Sickening Aura on Wayland forcing him to move. Arne also summons a Stone Construct to fight on his behalf.

Wayland charges into Arne effectively killing him in one go.

Keller moves into help Arne. Also, Keller is told he is to be hunted down as undead which confuses Keller as he is very much alive.

Getting to hit back, Keller revives Arne, and Timble tries to hit Wayland again, and Magnar & Rikard surges in to hit Wayland. Arne gets a few Eldritch Blasts in accidentally hitting Timble in the process. This is followed by Arne trying to disintegrate Wayland doing massive damage.

Wayland does say to Magnar, that he hopes Anselma enjoyed his gift of a black doll and a white doll he sent to her.

Magnar & Rikard lays down a smackdown on Wayland while Wayland takes out Arne again. Doing the necessary damage, Rikard eventually smashes that bitch Wayland. Picking up Arne, he Pecks Wayland with the idea being a metaphorical last hit for Arne on Wayland.

Keller heals the party where possible, and Timble heals Arne a bit too.

Examining the body it seems to be a clay-like doll in armour. They find a list that has Dhampir on it, and some that are marked off. Also the armour is plate mail and not magical but could be took by Magnar.

A note is present to Timble saying that they know where he is. It appears to be from Adalwolf.

An impression Magnar gets when looking at the body is something Anselma said. She had a bad dream involving Owle.. Timble tries to detect magic, and there is a spark that seems to fade quickly as if the body was controlled from a distance and there puppet strings became visible after the Biking was dropped.

The party grabs the wagon and other elements that were raided, and travel back to Eschbach.

When there, it is too quiet and they rush to Magnar & Anselma's house to see if she is alright.

Getting there, the party can hear noises in the house. It seems to be filled with children running round and Anselma laughing. Magnar bursts through first and is shocked as he can hear children upstairs, and Anselma is there. She seems to be cooking and asks Magnar if he wants some stew.

She turns round and her face is effectively blank with no eyes.....
