Fitzsimons Ruined Manor House

The Fitzsimons used to own a manor house they used for hunting and parties up till 10 years prior. Something happened that drove them away. Now abandoned, left to the elements & fallen into ruins something lurks there, and it's affecting the locals & nearby travellers.

Purpose / Function

The ruins were originally buit as a hunting manor for the Fitzsimons clan. It did fulfil other general functions but rarely used for these.

Architecture

Built primarily out of local chiselled stone blocks, it was decorated by fancy wood designs showing animals & plants. Tapestries were hung on many of the walls, which have primarily rotted away.

Defenses

Surrounded by rocky cliffs and heavy forest it was protected from sight of many enemies & animals. The stonework made it far more stable than most other buildings.

History

The Fitzsimons, being one of the wealthiest famiilies in Frankia, bought the rights to hunt in a 10 mile radius if havy forest, in the region north east of Parisius.Building of the hunting manor started in the 690s and finishing in the year 713 AD. Swiftly moving in to final touch ups in the manor, they quickly invited allies in to marvel in the fact the building was primarily made in a Romanesque style stone building.   For the next few decades it was put to good use including a visit from the Charlemagne himself.   Then, diseaster struck. An 18 year old lady-in-waiting disappeared while the La Merchand family of Orleans waas visiting the manor. Despite an intensive search in the manor and the surrounding wilds proved fruitless, she wasn't found, dead or alive.   A number of things were noticed at the time. Bloodstains were found in the library, leading to a spot on the ground beside the lower left wall. A hidden room supposedly lies beyond and access guarded. Those that say they have actually been in the hidden room, say that there is a slight smell of decay and the ground in one corner has been disturbed. Some also claimed that there was bloodstains on the edge of the water well and smells now. The water is now stagnant and strange noises are reported coming from the well.   At the same time the store room beside the kitchen is found to be colder than normal and strange smells & bones found there. Also, a pale young lady is said to run between these points. Any search or interaction of & with this young lady proves to be fruitless and she quickly disappears.   Many also say that these happen more during the ful moon, the time when the La Merchand family supposedly visited the manor. Also, they mention that the forest seem to become more active and growing quicly to prevent those leaving. The rocky cliffs seem to get taller, and smoother making it harder to climb.   It got to the point the Fitzsimons family couldn't bear this happening every month and eventually cleared out most of their items and left, leaving the manor to fall apart.   Many people still visit the site to see what is there and try to solve what happened to the young lady-in-waiting. There is also a minor story saying that she is still there waiting for a proper burial, and the manor to be fully rebuilt.

Oh, a nice ruin, or rather a beautiful article about it, although I can well understand why it was abandoned.
