Centaurs are are reclusive wanderers, and omen readers of the wild. They have the upper body, head & arms of a human, and the body of a horse from the neck down. Found on grasslands in south eastern Europe , and up to the Eurasian Steppes, they travel in tribes, they travel far distances and have no permanent settlements of their own.   A rumour has it that the Greeks were the first to encounter the centaurs. It may have been their people who mistook mounted troops of the Steppes people like the Dacians as being part human / part horse. At the time, the Greeks made little use out of mounted troops, except as allies, and they were not aware of that the centaurs are a separate species altogether.   They have traditional hunter-gatherer routes spread throughout these areas, and they are constantly on the move. Sometimes they encounter other peoples in these routes that have disrupted the centaur's ability to hunt or gather. This has led to conflict with settlements and farming communities.   When a centaur cannot keep up with the rest of the tribe, only then do it settle down, and one of two things happen. Firstly, the centaur disappears into the wild never to be seen again. Secondly, it might make it's way to another specie's settlement and take up residence with them. The benefit of this, especially to settlements & and farming communities, the experienced centaur will know all the trails, plants & animals, and hostiles in a region, and use this knowledge to help others. They can also act as intermediaries with other centaurs, and even Wood Elves, Forest Gnomes, and the Fey in the region too.

Suggested Environments
