Book of Eibon

The Book of Eibon is one of the most disturbing grimoires in existence. Copies exist here and there, and the original passes through hands best left alone. Every time it is copied a spark of the original is placed into it tying them all together. The original is rumoured to either lie in the Carpathian Mountains, or hidden deep in old Persia.

History

The Book of Eibon was created in the time of Pangea and the First Men. Binding spells of conjuring fiends, aberrations, the dead, and other dark entities, along with contacting hellish dimensions with it, the Book is extensive and wrote by only one author. Exactly who is never been known though the name Eibon is likely some form of the original author and spellcaster.

Split into chapters of contacting specific types of entities and their specific dimensions make up the bulk of the book. The final chapters explains how to deal with these, their dispelling, and how to close down the sessions. This also allows for specific ideas and overviews of each to allow the caster to understand and deal with anything they met.

As it is ancient, the book appears aged and has been soaked in the magics & energies of different dimensions giving off strange effects, with some driven insane in a few cases. Because of the darkness surrounding some of the rituals, it has also tied in with the Seven Doors of Hell. What the latter are, and where is not known at present. Some speculation as to the placement of these.

The lesser grimoires named after it contains little, almost minuscule, parts cut off the original, and any that don't has no real value. These are even more dangerous as the spell rituals are usually corrupted versions of the original.

The original itself was speculated to be created from the leather took of a Star God, wrote on vellum created from the skin of aberrations, and wrote in the blood of fiends. Copies are meant to be created using the same material and the miniscule amount took from the original binds them to it. When the lesser grimoires owners die, the copy usually disappears in a flash of stinking smoke & flame.

The thought is it was wrote somewhere beside the Euphrates River, to the west of it. The Vampire Nation claims it was created on or about the rise of First Men and is the one book the former fears. A number of scholars believe that the original is actually held by the Vampire Nation buried away deep in the Underdark in one of their most heavily defended strongholds. There it lies while the Vampire Nation copies elements to supply the surface world and cause damage to mages there. Those that survive are twisted mentally and emotionally, allowing the Vampire Nation to move around in societies where the copies have appeared without much resistance.

If this is true, then the Vampire Nation has much to answer for, though some of the darkest mages & scholars have stated they have seen the book, and even read from it. If so, then it is hard to decipher exactly what it the truth of the matter.

Rarity
