A Note on Gnome Barrowlands

Gnomes are usually found in barrowlands living in forests or other natural environments. They have always had a connection to the lands they are born in. No Gnome ever forgets their home barrow even if living in and around other urban centres. Each will have a place that they can go back to.

When living in a built-up urban area, the Gnomes will happily modify a cellar or group of cellars under their homes & places of businesses to turn into a makeshift barrow. Indeed, the Gnomes of Eschbach have done just that and the southwest of the new town. There, three brothers have done this and let other Gnomes tied to the town to come and share this space.

This allows the Gnomes like this to feel closer to the earth and to mingle. They regularly meet, eat & drink, and carry out either games or business in these areas. Stories are told, communal meetings, and Gnomish laws laid out. In the latter case, this only covers the Gnomes & their visitors within the barrow. These are usually based loosely on the barrows they come from, and local laws. They do recognise the local leadership and the nobility technically "owning the land" and will put that leadership as special guests where possible, and as long the local leader isn't truly evil.
