House Coldcrest
House Coldcrest is one of the great houses, having held the throne during points of time and having lasted through all of Vanreths strife. House Coldcrest has always been known to be kind to their allies and brutal to their enemies. They respect loyalty and earning trust with them is a difficult task. Coldcrest has had a feud with Stormdrake for centuries. Both have homes on the Pinnacle Sea, and have been in trade disputes over it for years trying to prove themselves as the one trade port. Stormdrake has been far more successful thanks to the location of Iron Edge, with Coldcrest relying on mining to suppliment their economy.
The mining industry is one they've been relatively successful in, but with some caveats. The Hastlands have richer ore veins and deeper mines, so Coldcrest is often undercut by them. As such, many in Coldcrest territory don't take kindly to dwarves.
Coldcrest's most recent history is one of a bitter defeat. Having successfully rallied forces and taken the throne during the War of the Dragon, Coldcrest set themselves up for a long rule. They even made some strides for peace with Stormdrake. But a weak ecnomic presence led to higher taxes and laxer laws on guilds. Support in the east and west waned, but Coldcrest had strong northern and southern alliances, specifically in House Ashwell and their allies. It would be Anchorpoint to uproot them, though. A group called the Orde of Ethereals led a rebellion, and suddenly the Paramount was killed and Coldcrest had been ousted. This led to a year of chaos, as houses scrambled to take what territory they could and reach for the throne. Coldcrest would lose control of Red Tower, and be ousted from their lands south of the Red Iron River. Their military presence would see the brunt of the early fighting, losing against the Order and Stormdrake and being forced back to Silvermoon.
Today, Coldcrest is a fairly strong opponent against Ashwell, their previous allies, who they believe wronged them by not providing any support during the Autumn war. Though they didn't participate in the Fullrider Coup, Fullrider is seen as one of the Ashwells biggest enemies.
