Bard
Bard is not just a class but an occupation, one that has been around since before recorded history. Bards are artists of all kinds, often ones looking to tell stories or create emotion. Though the most famous bards are musicians, bards can take up any form of artistic endeavor from poetry to playwriting to painting.
Bardic magic is strange amalgamation of learned magic and innate abilities, as art and some magic seem closely connected but unlocking those connections takes time and study. Bards have a history of being aloof, as do most artists, and that has carried with them into the modern day.
What is new is demand for bards who can hold their own. With mercenary culture at its peak, bands of adventurers need someone to write, sing, and tell their exploits to the masses to help secure fame (and therefore better contracts).
