  Chromatic protodragons are the most temperamental of their kind, embodying the volatile essence of elemental chaos. Their scales gleam in vibrant hues — crimson, emerald, sapphire, onyx, or ivory — and their personalities are just as intense. Though diminutive by dragon standards, they possess a fierce pride and often believe themselves destined for greatness, if not outright conquest of a backyard territory.   They prefer decisive companions: ones who strike first, ask later, and don’t mind the occasional scorched tent flap. They have a deep respect for power and reward loyalty with protective aggression. Woe betide anyone who insults their bonded adventurer — or interrupts their midday sunbath.   Despite their volatility, chromatic protodragons are clever and passionate allies who may one day grow into drakes of terrifying reputation — or remain gloriously petty for the rest of their natural lives.
