Personal history
Born in Hartheim to Chief Mazov, when Ilya came of age he was sent to Mysk to train to become a Skeinner. There Ilya learned to fight with the Long Skein, the harpoon, and to protect a charge. It was in Mysk he also learned the value of a good friend. It was at Mysk he met Yaro. There among the other recruits, Yaro and Ilya competed for Valan. those that won Valan would be the first new officers sent to Emperor Solon and was hotly contested. After defeating all the other recruits it was down to Ilya and Yaro. For hours they battled until eventually Yaro finally beat Ilya down and won. When Ilya woke the next day it was Yaro tending to Ilyas wounds. When he asked why Yaro went to the trouble Yaro told Ilya "Who else will I trust to watch my back?"
After their training Ilya and Yaro to Nika in the Nyztal Empire where they served Emperor Solon. Protecting him for three years. Standing watch as he slept, serving as his vanguard in battle, and acting as his royal escorts. As Ilya puts it "It was three years of running, stabbing, complete boredom, and soiling yourself. Often, more than one at a time."
With their service ended, and rich from their time in Nika, Yaro and Ilya returned to Valaskar and parted ways swearing to remain steadfast friends. When Ilya returned to Hartheim he started an apiary using the spoils he got while fighting for Solon.
When Ilyas mother, Chief Mazov, died he traveled to Valagird to ask for the position of chief knowing it was mothers last wish. Overjoyed to see his friend Jarl Yaro appointed Ilya as chief of Hartheim. Throwing a feast in his honor Yaro and Ilya celebrate each others accomplishments long into the night.
Returning home once again the new chief of Hartheim saw his home under attack by Khagan raiders and immediately began to rally the defense. What followed was a long harsh battle lasting well into the night but the when the dawn broke Hartheim still stood victorious.
Wealth & Financial state
As chief he is paid by a small portion of the taxes collected from Hartheim. However, most of Ilyas wealth is generated from an apiary and acreage he owns in Hartheim.
