Disaster / Destruction
In the far Northeast of Arethas, the region of Tyrmar was blessed with rains that later caused floods that wiped out most civilised settlements in the region.
The region of Tyrmar, in the far Northeast of Arethas, had experienced benevolent rains for a few years. These rains had made its food supplies independent of import, extending the archeological dig seasons, allowing more and more scientific discoveries in the area. The city of Tyrmar, captial of the region, housed most of the archeological artefacts and knowledge.
The Dwarves in the mountains noticed their lakes and natural dams filling up to record heights. They warned the people of Tyrmar but their warnings were rudely dismissed.
A strong winter froze most of the lakes which caused them to expand and weaken the natural dams. The next spring these dams began to collapse and the valleys experienced heavy flooding. On the 16th of Growth, after a short heatwave, the Human and Dwarven made dam in the main Tyrmar valley collapsed, flooding the entire valley and destroying most of the city. Countless lives and years of archeological findings were lost that day.
There was one more year of benevolent rains before the area turned back into an arid steppe.
