Construction beginning/end
The Arturians build the Obelisk, a beacon for the other families.
On the 53th of Decay of the second year one of the Arturians, Kristof, has a dream of a glistening cave not far from their city. The cave is at the base of a terrifying cliff. Waves crashed on the cliff with an unprecedented force. Sailing to it, or descending the cliffs would be certain death.
Next Kristof saw snow over Arturia. It was a blizzard unlike any he had seen before.
Kristof went to the priest of Timurantia and was told it was a sign. They had a good year and would be tested that winter.
The priest spoke with the elders and it was decided that they would perpare for the winter. The walls were reinforced, the roofs secured, and the houses were filled with firewood and food. Kristof was apparently chosen by Timurantia and the elders tasked him to go search for the cave while the weather still allowed it.
Kristof found the cave on the 70th of Decay and as he went back to Arturia a chilling wind came with him.
For 30 days the Arturians stayed in their homes, tested by a seemingly neverending blizzard with such a force that snow could not even settle on the houses and the ground. On the 27th of Rest the storm settled.
On the 28th of Rest, Kristof took the elders to the cave. When they arrived they found the sea frozen over. Kristof and the elders walked over the ice and into the cave. There they found a single frozen giant clam sitting on a pedestal in the center of the cave. As they thawed the creature it suddenly opened up. Inside was the largest, most magnificent pearl they had ever seen and perhaps had ever been. Upon leaving the cave they saw the sea thawing. They ran for their lives across a single, ever slimming sheet of ice, melting right behind them as they ran.
In the days that followed Kristof had another dream. This time of white hills basking in the light of the sun. He recognized the hills as those just east of Arturia. The priest said that the hills must contain something of value. Kristof found an exposed layer of smooth bright white quartz. The elders ordered the quartz to be quarried, certain that its purpose would soon be revealed.
On the 1st of Bloom of the 3rd year Kristof received his final dream. An obelisk of white quartz with the giant pearl at its top.
The elders knew immediately what to do and ordered its construction.
The family carefully planned and executed its construction, ensuring it would be fit for their goddess. The next year, on the 17th of Bloom, the obelisk was finally completed.
