The White Fang
Mission
The White Fang is an assassins guild with a predominantly noble cause. They mostly take cases that help maintain the political balance. They specifically target the corrupt and tyrants.Establishment
The White Fang was founded in 854 AA by Hector Dolemas. Hector Dolemas and his sister Yvenne were loved by the people and had put the interests of the people before those of the already wealthy. As a result, the wealthy, mostly council members, had ordered the assassination of Hector and Yvenne Dolemas. Hector survived but his sister didn't. Hector abdicated to ensure his own survival. The people knew of this injustice and riots ensued. A small group of people contacted Hector and offered to put things right. Hector agreed. A plan was made while the temporary government was busy dealing with the riots. Hector feigned support for the new government and helped calm the people. A ceremony of office followed to make the new rulers official. During the parade preceding the ceremony every single council member that had conspired against Hector and Yvenne, was assassinated. The assassinations happened during the day, in public and were celebrated by the people. The ceremony proceeded with Hector and the loyal council members being sworn in as the new government of Dolemas. Shortly after the new government had stabalized Hector abdicated. He left with the message "My leave is from the governing body, but not from the people. I will ensure that the people can trust their government. Remember, you work for the people, by grace of the people.". Soon after his leave the first booth and letterbox of the White Fang opened in Dolemas. How it works
Customers can contact the White Fang in booths and through mailboxes. These booths work like confession booths, neither party knows who is on the other side. The customer is required to leave an identification sentence. When the job is accepted the White Fang nail the reply to billboards in town. The message contains the customers identification sentence and thus the customer will know they can follow up on the request. A crier reads the messages for those that cannot read. Customers may also choose to identify themselves in the request if they require direct contact. This is however rarely accepted as the guild tries to maintain utmost secrecy.Spread
The White Fang has spread to other towns. They have booths and boxes in Neverwinter, Osson, Elas, Danil, and Darkstar. In other minor towns they might have operatives that listen for rumors and other opportunities. If they think the White Fang can be of service they slip a note or talk to the would be customer without revealing themselves.Organization
The organization is led by the Spirits of Justice and Angels of Death.Spirits of Justice
The Spirits of Justice collect information and regulate the political climate. They try to steer the political environment in peaceful ways. The Spirits can't be politicians themselves nor can they be directly employed by one. They can only present themselves as impartial advisors. If the Spirits can't resolve the issues by peaceful means they employ the Angels of Death. Below the Spirits are the Judges. They decide on almost all matters. Usually they just sign off on the propositions of the Assessors. Other than that they decide on cases that go beyond the scope of individual Assessors. The Judges avoid burdening the Spirits with anything and will only do so if absolutely necessary. The Assessors are the ones who process the most information. They collect the information from the Listeners and the Scribes, make their assessement, and instruct the Whispers. At the bottom of the organization are the Listeners, who operate the booths, the Scribes who record the requests, and the Whispers who relay information to the customer.Angels of Death
The Angels of Death oversee the assassinations of the guild. They mostly oversee the actions of their assassins and operatives. The Angels normally deal with only the highest priority targets. They also handle internal affairs. There are three ranks of Assassins. The lowest rank are the Novice Assassins. The middle rank are simply called the Assassins. The highest ranks are called the Master Assassins. These ranks are mostly formalities. The Judges and Assessors usually select the assassins for a job based on personal connections and preferences. Finally there is the lowest of the low, the Cleaners. The Cleaners tamper with the murder scenes so that the Assassins remain secret and safe. In turn, the Cleaners are safe cause they never did anything wrong. They are usually instructed individually and mix in with the crowds so any investigator will never know who did the tampering. Cleaners also clean up bodies when needed. This rarely happens since most assassinations are meant to send a message.Structure
