Exhaustion

Exhaustion

Exhaustion is based on exhaustion from 5e and the exhausted condition from 1DND. Exhaustion is a measure of how fit you are, a measure of your stamina, both mental and physical.

Levels of Exhaustion

Exhaustion is measured in levels. There are 10 levels of exhaustion, going beyond 10 means death.
Each level of exhaustion gives you -1 on attack rolls, skill checks, saving throws, and your spell save DC.
Every 2 levels of exhaustion lower your speed by 5, down to a minimum of 5. Travel speed is also reduced by 0.5 miles per hour.
At 5 levels of exhaustion your natural healing is greatly deminished. When you roll hit dice you roll with disadvantage and can add only half your constitution modifier (rounded up). Additionally your maximum hitpoints are halved.
When you reach 10 levels of exhaustion you fall unconcious. This means your allies need to help you prevent you from getting that last fatal level of exhaustion. You can come to but will still suffer from the 10 levels of exhaustion and gaining one more level will still kill you.
See table below for a full overview.

Reducing Exhaustion

There are some ways that will certainly reduce exhaustion.
Finishing a Long Rest reduces exhaustion by 1 level.
The Lesser Restoration spell can reduce exhaustion by 1 level (can only be done once per day).
The Greater Restoration spell can reduce exhaustion by 3 levels.
Light downtime activities lasting an entire day increase Long Rest exhaustion reduction by 1 level. These activities include carousing, gambling, buying items, and talking to people.
There are also some ways that will reduce exhaustion from certain sources. These are situation dependent.

Sources of Exhaustion

You can get exhausted from many things, usually these are situation dependent. Some however are fairly standard, here are some examples.
Going without sleep, food, or water. Prolonged and/or intense exposure to the elements. Monster abilities. Prolonged and/or intense effort.
The amount of exhaustion levels you gain from these sources depend on the situation.
