Civilized Goliaths

The Civilized Goliaths were the oldest civilized creatures of Taleth. For centuries they have lived in the hills and plains of Taleth. They have seen many types of visitors, most transient until the humans came from Arethas. These Goliaths have integrated with human society. The Arethian humans had to tame the lands before they could reestablish their culture. The Goliath's physical strength and knowledge of the land made them invaluable to the humans. The humans, who no longer called themselves Arethians, paid the Goliaths large sums of money and resources to build their own civilized settlements. Goliaths lived like elites in the lands of Taleth but many of their cultural values remained.   Their wealth and relations to the hostile giantkin in the northern parts of Taleth made them resented by the humans. The humans forgot the valuable service of the Goliaths and started to expel them from the human settlements. In these regions the Goliaths are still often met with racism and suspicion. The Goliaths responded by bonding together and holding true to their traditions, subtly rejecting the individualistic nature of human culture.   Alternative Ability Score Increase. Instead of the normal Goliath Ability Score Increase you may choose to have your Strength, Consitution, and Wisdom increase by 1.   Deep Bonds. (Replaces Mountain Born). You gain advantage on History checks relating to cultural aspects such as rituals, habits, and other traditions. You can more easily gain the trust of other tradition driven cultures.
