Elion

Elion is the empire seated on the island of Kher Mar. Its protectorates include the coastal nations of Nura (human), Anthrop (human), and the Kher Mar nations of Ealard (the highlands) and Elion. It also subjugates the archipelago of Khit Mir (little Kher Mar) to the northeast. It formed after a combination of unusual jinn political upheaval, natural disaster, assassination, and the proactive desire to control resources valuable to the svartali federations in the central continent.   Elion is the most powerful jinn body in the modern world, boasting significant trade by sea and a powerful military. It is also the most diverse by race, with numerous humans native to the region and many svartali.

Structure

The administrative structure of the Elinnic Empire is a three-branch system. The Emperor heads the Imperial Council, called by the jinn    The governance is divided among the Imperial Council, the Satet (which doubles as a judicial body), and the Sat'Alnar (literally "people's voice," the legislative body or senate). Power is greatest in the council, which is responsible for the appointment of the Sat'Alnar.

Assets

Elion is rich in raw materials and foodstuffs. One of its major provincial controls is over feystones, a material valuable to the svartali and worth much in trade. The human kingdom of Anthrop borders uncontested mountains that the jinn mine for feystones with great effect.

Demography and Population

The Empire of Elion is comprised of several races, most prominent of which are jinn, humans, and svartali (in descending order of % population).   At the time the jinn landed on the west coast of Kosmos, approximately 9 to 12 million humans inhabited the area eventually ruled by Elion. These civilizations suffered from far-reaching effects of the cataclysm, and after contact with the jinn led to rule by the jinn, their populations grew more slowly. Because wilderness and areas outside urban centers are generally dangerous to inhabit, the carrying capacity of a region is more quickly reached. By the year 6800-Dre, the human population in Elion was approximately 26 million.   Approximately 1300 jinn arrived on Kosmos with Zakhara's exodus, while another 2200 or so went their separate ways elsewhere. Jinn mortality and birth rates are far more stable than those of humans over extended periods of hundreds of generations. By the year 6800-Dre, the jinn population in Elion was approximately 12 million.
