History

Made by Telera according to the ancient texts recorded by Ganeshathena-Devata herself, very little is known of the Triton or their history. It is known that they emerged from the sea to aid the Golden Alliance during the Battle of the Red Fields, but afterwards disappeared back into the sea. Their leader introduced himself as King Nurus Sahnarath to Sylra Vereth, but this is only known thanks to Sylra's archived journals. The only other known Triton is the dread pirate Rydon Wavewalker, who formed the first Chorus. A confederacy of pirates under his rule, and guided by a strict set of rules known as the Choral Laws. Rydon and his Chorus would be defeated however, and no Tritons have been recorded since.   Some theorize that the Tritons captured the High Elves during their sail into the far oceans, and caused their seeming change in disposition. While others say that Tritons don't exist at all, or that they are merely misidentified Sea Elves. One prevailing tale among sailors is that Captain Rydon Wavewalker wiped out his own species before appearing on the surface. They say he used the lifeforce stolen from his own species in order to cheat death and sail the seas, sinking ships and bringing them to his domain beneath the sea. But this is discounted as a simple sailor's ghost story, those who claim to have seen Rydon after his death are all sailors gone mad. Captain Edward Amberwood of the Anglica fleet said as much when he reported to the Anglicai leadership saying, "I watched him die, as we plunged and slashed our blades into his blue hide, a call came from the deck behind us. Fire in the magazine, we leapt from his deck and as we did his flagship exploded. I'd never seen such utter destruction, the Chorus burned at last. Rydon Wavewalker is dead."
