The Silver Age
The Silver Age is defined by the final death of the Aeran Empire. In the year 3897 BGC the Empire moved its capital to Rova in southern Val’Kara. Leaving Aera City standing alone, but there was a treaty of independence signed to ensure the freedom of the city in the future. The Free City of Aera became a melting pot of different cultures and peoples, even beginning to rival Constantia in its glory. The new nation was called Praetora, and it ruled throughout Val’Kara. Meanwhile, the Tabaxi in Sarasarada began to build their own nation. One Tabaxi Sultan named Sejaro. Sejaro aimed to unite his peoples as one nation. He did this through “Conquest or conversation” which was his policy of diplomacy. He gave the city states the option of either, and slowly expanded out from Constantia in hopes of fulfilling his dreams. Though he did not live to see his Sultanate completed, his legacy was cemented when the Khaja Sultanate was finally formed in 3780 BGC. Shortly thereafter the Tarisian Khanate saw the united westerners as the biggest threat to them, so began the Taris-Khaja Wars (3776-3700 BGC) that would occur on and off for many years to come. Soon they became religiously fueled. The Tabaxi worshipped the Goddess Felis-Cathar, and the Tarisians believed she was a false Goddess entirely, so the wars became more commonly known as the Sarasaradan Holy Wars(3700-3447 BGC). The Tabaxi crusaded against the Tarisians for many decades. Only “ending” in 3447 BGC when the Praetorians invaded Sarasarada. The Praetorian Emperor Greco wanted to reconquer the lands of the old Aeran Empire. While the Praetorian armies found early success, they got slowly stifled by the unforgiving environments of Sarasarada. The soldiers clad in heavy armor moved slowly through the desert. Thousands died merely from the heat and lack of water. And only after 7 years the war ended. The Hot War, or War of Praetorian Aggression ended in 3440 BGC. The Kari people mostly kept to themselves throughout the centuries, content under the Empire’s rule. But in 3366 they called for liberation. Unwilling to give up their trading posts there, the Empire tried to suppress independence movements, leading to the Red Rebellion. Named for Kari’s rebel flag originating from a flag covered in blood that was flown during the rebellion’s first victory. The next 8 years were dominated by war. The Kari were a smaller force but they knew the land. And while the Empire had been ailing, it was nowhere near weak under the current Emperor’s rulership. Emperor Frixus IIV was known as “The butcher” for his brutal tactics. But the war would end in the Emperor’s death in battle. Technology changed greatly over the course of the Silver Age. Better weapons and strategies began to be implemented, and there were so many advances in magic that the most powerful mages and sorcerers began an order for the protection of the Empire. In 2560 BGC the Ordo Magia was formed. They uplifted an entire island in order to fully isolate themselves. They trained magic users in all manner of schools and fields. In the year 2271 the Great Hunger hit Novoto. A famine that lasted 30 long years, in which many Novoto left the island to escape the famine. Many fled to Kaldrland where their old allies the Norseans welcomed them with open arms. Throughout the rest of the age, populations grew to far exceed what the production of nations could provide. There was a great resource shortage in 2020 that would go on to define the next age.
