Growth Rate & Stages

Elves matured at roughly the same rate as humans, though they were not usually considered past adolescence until they reached 100 years of age. Unlike humans, elves did not age dramatically as their lifespan came to a close, with the most obvious changes being a change in hair color, alternatively graying or darkening. Most elves remained healthy and full of life up until their death, which, if age-related, was usually between nine and ten centuries. Some tell of some Elven bloodlines holding onto the immortality of the first Elves.

Ecology and Habitats

Varieties of Elves can live in a variety of places. Drow for example prefer the Underdark, while Wood Elves the forest.

For example, the Eldari Empire works off an imperial model, one where High Elves are all of equal standing, and other species of Aeris are seen as second class people, or not people at all. Whereas The Wood Elves of Nimina Forest have a King, but not so strict a structure. It is known that Drow too have a strict societal structure built on domination.

History

To tell the history of the Elves is to tell the story of Aeris. Born of Telera and Odeus, the first creations of the Gods to inhabit their new world. Divine in beauty and connected to nature, some lived on the Material Plane, while others lived in the Feywild. These first Elves were given immortality. And while they are believed to have all died by the fall of Moraphan, some say few yet live. In the Archaen Age they built the first great cities and civilizations, Tol Ador was their shining jewel. An island of untouched natural beauty, where their Elven halls interacted with the landscape as fluidly as a river through a mountain valley. They fought some of the earlist conflicts, against the Dwarves and roving Orc hordes. Everything changed when Moraphan attacked. Pushing many Elves back to Tol Ador. It was here that King Renavel had a child with Alyssara Praeta. Sylra Vereth, the first Half-Elf, was born. Becoming King of Elves and the remaining Humans, his Golden Alliance would go on to beat Moraphan. The Elves of Aeris would join the Empire, and work to heal the world after it's tumult had passed. The Elven kingdoms would take their independence from the Empire in 5157 BGC due to the end of the Vereth line. The Elves did not think it beneficial to be ruled in part by a Human Emperor with no understanding of their ways.   The Elves who still participated in the Empire would see the end of the Empire, the Praetoran Empire's formation, and the oncoming wars that followed. Meanwhile the Elven kingdoms watched as Aeris began to fall into darkness again. The Resource Shortage of 2020 BGC was followed by the Blight Wars. The Blight Wars, endless famine, and disease affected even the High Elves of Tol Ador, causing the deaths of thousands. Finally the Age of Blight ended with the Great Collapse. In it's aftermath a new world was forged. And once again the Elves were affected by a terrible war. The Great Alliance War was a drawn out conflict that pitted the Known World against itself. The two massive pan-continental alliances of the time had been growing more and more, and in addition tensions rose more and more till finally war broke out. And like dominos, kingdoms were pulled into war. The Elves were no different, fighting for their alliance, and sometimes against other Elves. In the end when there was no clear victor, the High Elves of Tol Ador, the largest and most powerful Elven kingdom, was left in dispair. They had taken heavy losses, and with many dead overseas without purpose or meaning they disappeared. Tol Ador, the oldest Elven kingdom, was gone. The Tol Ador Elves sailed off into the west, seemingly to never be seen again.   Time passed, and with it came the Long Freeze. The Long Freeze also introduced the world to the Drow. A series of wars across Aeris known as the Shadow Wars would engulf the Known World. When it finally ended and the Drow retreated to the Underdark, some prisoners of war were reformed and joined society. Their descendants account for the Drow on the surface today. The In Regeneratione would follow, and Elven smiths and thinkers would help in the development of many of the technological advancements of the time. But in 829 AGC the Tol Ador Elves would return, and form the Eldari Empire. And only 5 years later their first conquest would begin. Into the New Millennium the Eldari pose a great threat, Elves are more and more mistrusted, and the other Elven kingdoms begin to shrink away as Aeris turns it's confusion and fear towards them. The future is uncertain, but ever changing. The Elves may yet reclaim their favor in the eyes of the world...
