Aldric Gothric
Generalkommandant Aldric Gothric

Personal history
Born to a noble Anor-Gothic family, Aldric Gothric was a bright child who was described by his teacher Gallius as "inquisitive and curious about every tree and hill within his sight". He'd become enamored with the soldiers stationed in the village he was raised in, even asking them to let him be a soldier as early as 13 years old. Eventually his wish would be granted, and he joined the Anor-Gothan infantry at the age of 17. He'd marry Lady Charlotte Medz just two years later after a long courtship. That same year in 377 AGC the Praetorans would invade Anor-Gotha as well as Vilka; and Aldric was called to the front lines. He'd be given multiple promotions during the course of the conflict. Aldric was knighted and given the rank of captain in 379 after proving his skill on the battlefield. But in his personal writings expressed dissatisfaction towards the leadership of the Anor-Gothic army as a whole. His misgivings proven valid in the siege of Lotharic, when the Praetorans had conquered the heartland of the kingdom, and surrounded the capitol.
The siege also left Aldric with hidden scars. A misfired ball of fire meant for him and his men instead struck a nearby home where a baby slept. He was noticably impacted by the mother's chilling wails, and many say this is the reason he was the first to abandon his post when the imperials broke through the outer walls at last. While the other commanders sent their men to their deaths, Aldric took his force through the capitol gathering as many soldiers and civilians as they could into Lotharic castle itself; they were then able to escape with the king and his family through a secret passage into the Silver Mountains. He attempted to extract his mother and father as well, but convinced the castle was impenetrable, Aldric's father physically held his mother back from accompanying. It is well known the imperials slaughtered any nobility in sight as a means to wipe any claim to the Anor-Gothan throne out, Aldric's parents among the dead there in the castle...
Aldric and the survivors of the siege fled with the Praetorans at their heels, though the imperials knew not of the secret passage, and thus were stuck trudging through the Silver Mountains; in the middle of winter no less. The Anor-Gothan refugees were given shelter in Anglica, where Aldric reunited with his wife Charlotte. Five years would pass, Aldric leading the remaining Anor-Gothic soldiers alongside Anglicai military forces. After five long years of campaigning he was given the title of Generalkommandant of the Anor-Gothic Royal Army. A symbolic title in many ways; as the kingdom of Anor-Gotha had been conquered, and King Aldergarde was a king in exile. But Aldric was honored all the same to be given the highest military rank possible in what was Anor-Gotha. He'd continue to fight the Praetorans, and also father two sons before the war was over. Indeed after the Novoto and Shyrlanders joined the war effort, the tide began to turn. Aldric himself would propose the plans for a crushing blow against imperial forces both in military and spiritual loss. The Battle of Gothric's Way as it'd come to be known was certainly the crushing blow Aldric had hoped it would be. The Praetoran emperor himself was killed, and a massive number of the imperial army was completely wiped out. Trapped against the momentum of the free-realm's combined forces.
Aldric would attend the celebrations in Aera City before returning home to the re-formed Kingdom of Anor-Gotha. He'd live peacefully at Gothric manor, his old troops inhabiting the village around it. Here he was finally able to be a father to his children, and a husband to his wife. Till in 400 AGC when the great mystery occurred, and his community was swallowed by what's now known as the Nimina Forest. In the aftermath of this cataclysmic and mysterious occurrence; the kingdom mourned his presumed death. They held a grand memorial in the capital city. A statue of him would be placed upon the ramparts of Lotharic's outer walls in the same place he was stationed during the War of Falling Stars.

Mental Trauma
His time serving in the War of Falling Stars left him with severe depression, and he was haunted by his years fighting in that war. His men would muse that he may've been part elf, as they'd sometimes never see him sleep. They'd hear him late at night pacing around the camp endlessly; only to wake to him doing the very same thing in the morning. One soldier wrote of the Generalkommandant's strange behavior saying:
"The commander sometimes won't sleep. My unit's tent is sometimes closest to his, and we hear him up debating with himself about 'the correct course of action' or the chances of victory in the coming battle. We even hear him singing old folk songs from home. Some might say it's strange, but not us. Cause the next day we'll wake up to a fully drawn up strategy, intricate details, all given the utmost thought. Then we win, and he sleeps; but not before sharing an evening of merriment with us. He's the finest commander of the Fatherland; no wonder he's one of the only ones still alive"- Anor-Gothic infantryman
Intellectual Characteristics
A cunning and clever tactician, an eye for details his allies trusted and his enemies scorned. He did not win EVERY battle he took part in, but he learned from every single victory and loss. This made him into one of the most prolific leader by the end of the War of Falling Stars. It was his mind that made him dangerous first, and his sword arm second. Apart from war however he had a passion for writing, and his men saw him often scribbling into his journal after battles or any sort of event.
