Deuteronomy

Fae-Infused Gargoyle

Background

Before it fell into ruin, the old, ruined church in Thorin's Rest had a series of gargoyles erected on it. Eventually, the site would fall to ruin as the people slowly forgot about the spirits and instead followed the Path of the Silver Flame. There he sat day in and out until one day a wandering rune mage who was particularly “lonely” decided he would bring the gargoyle to life as a companion.   Embedding rune-carved gems into the body of the gargoyle, he cast a ritual to bring it to life. Unfortunately, partway through the casting, he fell off the roof of the church, killing himself. His death, the half-complete ritual, and the presence of a powerful air spirit came together in a completely unexpected manner. The mage's soul and the spirit were drawn into the diamond embedded deep in Deuteronomy's chest, merging and bringing the statue to life.

Personality

"You are still learning, is okay!"
Kind and loving, Deuteronomy will support his friends and defend them fiercely, and while not heavily life-experienced will always offer dad-wisdom if he thinks he can help. He’s not above good-natured ribbing either.
"Red paint, my arms in flames!”
He loves art and colour, as well as music and artisan works, and is always looking to gain new skills, techniques, and proficiencies.   A strong distrust in the major churches comes from the fae he did spot around town avoiding their buildings, as well as discussions he had with the fae that could speak. With this strong connection comes his love of pranks and ribbing, and often sketches goofy versions of events to document and practice his skills.

Ideals

"There is a purpose, and there is intent. Create with the latter, and show them what you can make"
Creativity; Experimentation; Fae just everywhere; Friends & Caring

Bonds

"They are like family. We are extended kinds and we can help each other out."
Connect quickly with fae (tricksters and thieves), and artists etc. Fae and Artisans in General.
"Douglass, he can make things with such skill! He is really good at horseshoes, but I have seen what he makes in secret, and I HAVE made the minor improvements they needed to be true art. He is also super fun to work with!"
Seeing Douglass' shiny work, Deuteronomy would often come by after shop close and would make “improvements” to his work. Once he got caught, they were fast friends and would often add some flair to pieces left out for him to work on.
"I think that lady saw me, she has been arresting people and asking around about me it seems. I am not sure what she wants but whatever it is, it can’t be good..."
Does not trust Carol at all, and keeps a constant eye on her actions.

Flaws

  • Has no concept of standards of decency
  • Will always try to create something, even to the detriment of others.
