Zalmon was the first dark lord of the land and was the first mortal to gain the secrets of lichdom. He saw himself as a scholar of Malroth and vowed to spread his decay.

Zalmon was known as the first dark lord of the land, having gained the secrets of lichdom, a powerful undead creature. He saw himself as a disciple of Malroth, the father of eternal evil, and sought to spread his decay across the land. However, he was eventually defeated by the cleric of Yahweh, who exiled him to the shadowfell.
For centuries, Zalmon ruled over the shadowfell and the feywild, even consuming the fruit of the shadowfell, a powerful and mysterious object. Eventually, he reentered the Eryndor and engaged in battle Anwen Querna. Despite putting up a fierce fight, Anwen ultimately defeated and killed Zalmon, though not without sustaining injuries that ultimately led to her death.
Eons after his death, Zalmon's spirit continued to wield influence, aiding Felraan in his rise to power as the next dark lord. Thus, Zalmon's legacy lived on, even after his physical demise.
