Hell
Hell, also known as the Nine Hells, is a realm of strict order and ruthless law, where lawful evil souls are reborn as devils to serve in the infernal hierarchy. Each layer of Hell is governed by a powerful archdevil, with Asmodeus, being the supreme leader. This plane is characterized by its harsh environments, reflecting the nature of its rulers and inhabitants.
The strict order and hierarchy of Hell ensure that every soul and every devil has its place, contributing to the overall efficiency and power of the realm. The ultimate goal of Hell is to maintain its dominion and expand its influence, using its legions to conquer other planes and spread its malevolent power.
Layers
Erebus
Ruler: Belphegor
Erebus is a desolate wasteland with rocky terrain, cursed with eternal night and darkness. The layer has the loosest hierarchy in all of Hell, with devils constantly warring for control in a feudal-like organization. Belphegor maintains authority through sheer power, allowing lesser devils to battle among themselves as no one dares to challenge his dominion.Karnuss
Ruler: Beelzebub
Karnuss is a toxic wasteland filled with corrosive fumes. Rivers of acid and decrepit swamps dominate the landscape. Beelzebub maintains order with the Crimson Locusts, an insectoid devil race he created. These locusts enforce his will and keep the chaotic nature of the realm in check.Medullis
Ruler: Mara
Medullis is a realm of towering, twisted spires made of black iron and pulsating flesh. The ground is a living, writhing mass of sinew and bone, constantly shifting and reforming. Legend says Medullis is actually the corpse of a primordial entity, and Mara uses necromancy to animate and control the layer. His citadel, a colossal fortress of organic and metallic horrors, looms at the center of this grotesque landscape.Vakaron
Ruler: Astaroth
Vakaron is a realm of towering mountains and active volcanoes. The air is thick with ash and the ground trembles with frequent eruptions. Astaroth's capital lies within Mt. Bane, the largest volcano. Vakaron serves as the control center for the Netherwar, the ongoing conflict between Hell and Heaven, with Astaroth's strategies and commands being executed from here.Barsha
Ruler: Mammon
Barsha is the most metropolitan layer of Hell, filled with large-scale cities and industrial complexes built by enslaved souls. The landscape is dominated by factories and workshops, where devils and enslaved mortals toil endlessly. Mammon personally oversees the accumulation of wealth and resources, his greed driving the relentless industrialization of the layer.Mordrikk
Ruler: Mephistopheles
Mordrikk is a realm of relentless cold and ice, a stark contrast to the infernal heat of the other layers. It is constantly battered by blizzards, with temperatures averaging around -100°C. Mephistopheles rules from a fortress of ice, his power maintaining the frigid conditions that torment the souls trapped in this frozen wasteland.Sheol
Ruler: Lilith
Sheol is a realm of bleak decay and shadows, where all vegetation is perpetually wilted and dead. Long ago, Lilith cast the Rite of Necrosis, transforming the devils of Sheol into undead. The land is haunted by the restless dead, and Lilith's cursed influence ensures that nothing in Sheol ever truly lives.Oblivion
Ruler: Asmodeus
Oblivion is a flat, desolate plain with deep ravines. It is the second hottest layer of Hell, with the air constantly shimmering with heat. Asmodeus rules from the depths of the deepest ravine, residing in his crimson fortress. Here, he meets with the archdevils of the upper layers, maintaining his iron grip over Hell. The Lake of Fire
Ruler: Satan (Imprisoned)
The Lake of Fire is an endless sea of molten lava, hotter than anything else in the universe. At its heart, Satan is eternally chained, his twisted will warping the realm into the most dangerous location in existence. The lake is so hot that no living being can survive contact with it; even most fiends would be instantly seared to ash. Only a select few, like Asmodeus and occasionally Malroth, can withstand its heat to enter the lake and communicate with Satan.Inhabitants
Hell is populated by a wide variety of devils, each serving a specific role within the infernal hierarchy. From lowly imps to powerful pit fiends, every devil has its place and function. Lawful evil mortals who find themselves in Hell are transformed into devils, continuing their existence in eternal servitude to the archdevils.
