Dukaath - The Lord of Tombs

Dukaath, known as the Lord of Tombs, is the god of death and decay, embodying a grim and fatalistic worldview. Unlike other malevolent deities, Dukaath is neither sadistic nor ruthless; instead, he views life as inherently meaningless and fruitless. To him and his followers, existence is a plague, and nonexistence is a state of purity and release. In opposition to the vibrancy of life, Dukaath seeks to cleanse the world of all living things, believing that death holds more meaning than life.   Dukaath's symbols include a withered tree, a skull adorned with cobwebs, and a scythe shrouded in shadow, representing his dominion over death, decay, and the inevitable end of all things. His attributes are grim, stoic, and unyielding, embodying the cold inevitability of death and the decay that follows.   As one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse created by the archdemon Malroth, Dukaath works alongside Illithor, Zu’Gara, and Akathis to bring about the end of the universe and plunge the world into eternal darkness and sin. However, while his companions may revel in destruction and suffering, Dukaath's pursuit is driven by a nihilistic philosophy that sees death as the ultimate and inevitable truth.   Faith in Dukaath often entails nihilism, with his followers embracing the belief that life is devoid of purpose and that death is the only true release from the suffering and futility of existence. Cultists of Dukaath come from all backgrounds, united by their shared belief in the futility of life and the sanctity of death. The creatures of the shadowlands, in particular, are often in submission to Dukaath, drawn to his dark and fatalistic vision.
