The Spellscar

The Spellscar is a Wellspring anomaly created on Lekaren 12, 238 AE. It was characterized by a tremendous storm that swept through the western landmass of Gothir, delivering thousands of lightning strikes which darkened the landscape. Many of the native Ettinor had to flee the storm, and those caught in it were presumed dead. After the storm disappeared, the Ettinor of Gothir waited about a week before going to check on their kin that dwelt there. Upon arriving in the region now known as The Spellscar, the Ettinor found something alive there, but it was not their brethren, but the creatures that have come to be called the Bakari.

These fearsome creatures were extremely hostile and beat back the Ettinor, who found out very quickly that the Bakari's bite was not just painful, but would transform them into another Bakari. The Ettinor fled east to Ebondel and Koranir for shelter. This was the beginning of a bloody war that rages on to this day, known as the Spellscar Crusade. The Ettinor would discover that not only could the Bakari add to their number by biting them, but they were seemingly endless in number.
