Session 52
General Summary
The party starts the day with a bland breakfast at the Temple of Lys after getting some much needed rest and then heads out to investigate the Residential District to scout it out and get an idea about the number of undead there. Along the way, Dain is doing quite well staying undetected on the ground until at some point, he is alerted by Summer (who is on the roof) to the presence of some undead around the corner. He stops abruptly at the corner to peek around, and his Steel Defender bumps into him, causing them both to clatter to the ground, making a lot of noise, and alerting the undead down the street. Just then, Summer notices the face of a Human poking around a corner from an alleyway near where the undead are. As the party engages the undead, this Human charges out, clad in splint armor and a spear, and joins the fray. The party quickly deals with the hordes of undead, but is taken off guard by a slugging gray undead whom the Human with the spear attempts to warn them about, but the Drab pursues Icarus, seeing him as an easy target, and deals quite a good bit of damage, bulking up to its max potential before being teleported down to the street by Dain and Solomon finishes it off by stabbing it through the eye with his spear.
The party notices two Elves rushing to join Solomon on the street, one glad in leather armor and a cloak carrying dual blades, and the other lightly dressed with a longbow on his back and carrying a glaive. Eskall, wary, alerts them that he is casting Zone of Truth so they can be "on level ground" and the party questions them. Solomon introduces himself and his companions, Milena and Sandir. They tell the party that they are with the Dawnstar and are returning from a mission in the Yzerid Desert and were alerted by a message of the situation in Eldham. The party brings them up to speed on the events of the past year and how it all connects to the current situation. Based on their responses, it seems the Dawnstar scouts are familiar with some of the other people in the area, including Merith and Tabitha. Solomon also mentions an encounter with Dain's cousin, Gloin, in the Sudwin Valley, selling his cheap knockoff Steel Defenders. They say that they are there to scout out the situation and report back to the Dawnstar in Mythwell. They tell the party that they plan to investigate the Market District next and suggest that the party take another district so that they can take stock of the situation quicker. The party agrees and heads off to the Aristocratic District.
The party gets the rough head count for the undead in the Aristocratic District, and finds it rather odd how few undead seem to be in that district in particular. It takes a good chunk of time due to the size of the district, but not wanting to end the day early, they decide to scout the smallest district next, the Trade District. They get the head count there and it is getting fairly late, so the party decides to head back to the Statehouse to rest for the night. However, along the way, they hear a loud hissing, screeching sound coming from the direction of the Statehouse. Weary from the day's events, they decide to head for the Temple of Lys instead.
As the party arrives at the temple, they see the doors to the temple closed and an etching of glowing light coming from around the entrance of the temple. They knock on the locked door after Eskall attempts to open it and tell the priests who they are, and hear the priests moving something heavy aside before letting them quickly pass through. They see Lorrim kneeling in a circle of light in the center of the room with a hand outstretched pouring light towards the door. Eskall's Ogre Zombie attempts to enter, but is thrown back by the barrier and harmed. Eskall asks for the Ogre Zombie to be let in, but Lorrim says that he cannot or else he will not be able to raise the barrier again, and the zombie will have to stay outside for the night.
