Session 51
General Summary
Lorrim heals the party's wounds and they take a moment to rest before returning to Aubron's house and entering the mirror. In his haste to explore, Dain heads up the stairs to the second floor and sets off a trap, blasting him and Eskall with acid. He then takes a moment to cast Detect Magic to look for other magical traps. He sees two auras emanating from the direction of Aubron's study, and seeing the aura of evocation magic emanating from his doorway, decides to cast Firebolt at the door, setting it off, and narrowly avoiding the fiery blast that resulted. The party continues into the small study room and finds among the wreckage, a small glowing circle emanating necromancy magic. They decide to destroy it, and use the Ogre Zombie as cannon fodder, making him move within the circle. When nothing happens, they surmise that perhaps it only affects living beings, and decide to have the Ogre Zombie punch through the floor to destroy it. After collapsing the floor, the circle sputters and flickers before giving off a burst of necromantic energy.
The party decides to deal with the undead's entrance into the city and enters the sewers from the Human district where they entered previously. They explore for a bit, hearing undead growling and groaning in the distance. As they explore, Summer gets the drop on a ghoul, who doesn't detect her, and manages to snap its neck, killing it instantly. They continue exploring and manage to find the goblin tunnels Adamar's minions had dug the year prior. They determine that the supports holding up the tunnels were crudely made and could be rather easily destroyed. Grim decides to become large and runs down the tunnel, clotheslining the support beams on his way, eventually causing a cascade collapse that destroys the tunnels and buries the undead inside. The party finds a nearby sewer hatch and investigates the surface where they find the undead that were on the street previously had fallen into the collapse and been taken with it. However, the noise attracted the attention of some other undead and resulted in a battle.
Attempting to quickly reach his Ogre Zombie minion, whom had been left at the entrance of the sewers, Grim throws Eskall while in his huge form, who, with the added momentum, comically splats into a building.
The party heads back to the Temple of Lys to speak with Lorrim about having destroyed the entrance into the city.
