Session 49

The party is led to the rectory in the Temple of Lys where they are introduced to Lorrim Eroth, a young Elven Cleric who is doing his best to protect the temple from the undead. The party speaks with him about contacting Mythwell and he uses a Sending spell to contact the clerics there, whom relay to him that they were already contacted by a rider from Eldham and that the Dawnstar is currently mobilizing to send help. They also relay that Carran is also under attack, and that they do not know anything of any weapons of Astix, but that they will consult with the clerics in Valensir. Lorrim recommends seeking the statehouse, as that's where many would likely seek refuge due to the size of the estate and the Enforcers guarding it. He also suggests other places to look for survivors, and says that the temple can accommodate perhaps another 50 people.

Along the way to the statehouse, the party sees a group of citizens huddled together on the rooftops, whom they direct to the Temple of Lys. Shortly after, they are attacked by a Graycrawler and several other undead.

The party reaches the statehouse where they are recognized by the Enforcers and led to speak with Garrett, who seems overwhelmed and unsure of what to do. The party requests an audience with Eldar and are led to the prison below the statehouse, where the party is made aware of Eldar's true role in all this and of Adamar, Rhys, and Aubron's roles in the horrible events of the past two years in Eldham. He tells the party that Rhys had been holding his family, his wife Celeval and his daughter Sarya hostage, but ever since his death, they are most likely being held by Aubron, and he requests that they try and find them. He tells the party about Aubron's home in Eldham and writes down the address. The party rests for the night in the statehouse, grabs breakfast, and heads over to the address they were given by Eldar.

The party, after having some difficulty navigating the city from the rooftops, locates Aubron's home and Summer and Dain recognize it as the haunted home they excised the previous year where they found the magic mirror. They enter, finding a glowing rune just at the foot of the door inside, and decide to enter through the window. The party explores the home, finding the mirror no longer within the cupboard they left it in, but nothing else of note. They put the mirror back inside the cupboard, but leave without exploring it. They exit the home and decide to scale the rooftops before using Dain's Staff of Fireballs to destroy the house. However, this triggers the glowing rune, which sends inky black tendrils shooting towards them. They fortunately take little damage from the trap.
