Session 34

Mai got a "bad case of the zoomies" and ran off in the general direction of the forest between Eldham and Mythwell and hasn't been heard from since.

Anlon was called to the Temple of Lys in Mythwell and would not divulge his purpose in going there.

A Tabaxi named Crypt showed up at Fort Elden looking for a place to rest on his way to the forest between Eldham and Mythwell and claimed to be hunting a Rot Troll. He claims he is a member of the Dawnstar.

The group receives word that the leader of the Paragons of Lys is planning to make a public announcement in Eldham soon, so they pack up with their new member, Crypt, and head off to Eldham.

Tabitha tells Summer she is looking to sell the Dead Goose Inn. Dain introduces Reginard to Crypt. They then head to the city square to watch the announcement.

Haldir gives his sermon, promising the Elves a world free of the presence of Humans, and watches as he incinerates a Human man accused of forcing himself on an Elven politician's daughter. He calls on all "good sons and daughters of Lys" to report any half-breeds or Humans in the city. He claims to be on a divine mission from Lys to rid the world of the half-breeds, as they are abominations. Belegor Maerdrym, the High Priest of the Temple of Lys publicly announces support for Haldir and has another priest of Lys who declared Haldir a heretic arrested.

Dain hurries over to Eldham's Excellent Elixirs and gives Giselle the news about the announcement. Frightened, she decides to leave for Fort Elden and do her work from there and ship her goods back to Eldham. While they are packing Giselle's things, Crypt, who is waiting outside, witnesses a man hanging flyers offering a 25 GP bounty on information that leads to the locations of any Humans or half-breeds in the city.

The party heads back to Fort Elden and manages to avoid being tailed by the Paragons. When they get back, they find that Tamas' scouts have recently spotted strangely dressed riders searching about the foothills near Fort Elden. Tamas decides to light up the surrounding area so they can't be snuck up on during the night.

Around midnight, Tamas witnesses something big in the forest reach out and swat out some torches. He wakes the others and they stay out watching, and eventually this thing begins to work its way towards the fort swatting out torches as it goes. Eventually Crypt provokes it and it charges him. The group manages to drop it without too much difficulty. It was the Rot Troll that Crypt was searching for. They decide to burn the body.

A Human woman named Esme approaches Tamas and tells him about the Elven politician Evindal Faremel, his daughter Myriani, and her lover Rolfe, the Human man Haldir executed in Eldham's city square during his sermon. She says that Evindal discovered their affair and had Rolfe arrested and Myriani hasn't been seen since. She sketches Haldir and Belegor's faces for Tamas.

Sabine is haunted by the ghost of the Firebrand Goblin for the first time and wakes up screaming. Dain sees the form of the spirit, but it disappears too quickly for him to make out what it was.

During the night, the three moons of Aellorah are in their new moon phase, an ill omen of bad things to come. At midnight, Tamas is patrolling the wall and sees a black mist approach the camp of Humans and pass right through the walls before coalescing into a solid black shadow form that lets out a horrible eldritch scream which wakes the party. They battle the Voidspawn Corruptor but are unable to finish it off. Just as it begins to glow an eerie purple, an Aasimar woman named Neldena drops out of the sky with celestial wings sprouted from her back and summons an immensely powerful column of light which banishes the Voidspawn.
