Session 21
General Summary
Party brought Sabine back to the Dead Goose and told Tabitha what happened. She offered to give the party a room with a window facing the back of the inn so they would have an escape route in case the Enforcers came looking for them, but told them to talk to Reginard, as he was known for providing safe haven for Humans during the Human riots following the Grave Rot Plague outbreak.
They went to Reginard and asked if he knew of any magic users in the area that could train Sabine to control her unstable magic, but he said that it's rare to see magic users in Eldham and Marcel was the last magic user he knew of in the area. Reginard offered to give the girl safe haven in his sewer hideout, but the players didn't want to leave her alone in a sewer. They returned to the Dead Goose.
Party discussed the situation and headed back to Reginard. Along the way, they witnessed a Human woman, moving robotically and with an expressionless face, stab an Elven politician in the face, killing him, and wounding another. The party managed to restrain her and pull her into an alley before the Enforcers arrived, and Tamas noticed her eyes were a vibrant pink -- an indication of Enchantment magic. Summer gave the Enforcers a BS description to direct them away from the woman, and the party brought Tesselle, as they later learned her name was, to the Messy Cushion. Reginard brought the party and the woman down into his sewer hideout and mixed a draft which sped up her recovery from the domination.
Tess was in hysterics, asking what happened, and wanting to know where she was. The party questioned her and found that she had been in the market the day before, shopping for produce, and as she turned away from a market stall, she bumped into a Vesperkin man, and after that, she woke up here. She gave them the Vesperkin's description: fair skinned, black hair slicked back with hair product, and a fancy blue tunic. The party informed her that she murdered Selcar, a racist Elven politician involved in the creation of the anti-Human proclamation issued just hours earlier, and told her about it, which further distressed her. The party decided to leave her in Reginard's care and headed back to the Dead Goose.
Party settled in for dinner and saw a man in ragged, faded robes vaguely resembling what a Wizard might wear enter and sit down for dinner. He asked Tabitha for information on how he could hire a group to help him with a project, and that he didn't want to publicly post the job as to not get too much attention. The party perked up and questioned him, and he told them his mentor, a Wizard, tasked him with finding a relic in some ruins near the ocean on the peninsula to the south of Eldham, which is said to have the power to sustain the dying. The party took interest and agreed to help him, saying they would set out the next morning. They also informed him of the situation with Sabine and he agreed to help them with their problem if they helped him with his.
The next morning, Summer informed Reginard they'd be gone for a few days and they set out to the ruins, arriving almost 4 days later, in the afternoon. They came upon a ruined abbey with broken windows, overgrown vines, and ruined stonework. Anlon headed inside and came upon a dark section of the abbey where he could see what looked like beds, but he could see a hulking shadowy form in the room he couldn't make out. He threw a piece of wood with magical light on it into the room and saw a Giant Skeleton, which the party engaged.
The Giant Skeleton managed to give the party a run for their money and Anlon was nearly killed. Sabine's Wellspring surge blanked the party's magic briefly, putting them in even more danger, but Ronan managed to save the day by dealing the finishing blow to the Giant Skeleton.
Afterwards, the party investigated the fancy looking mace the creature had been using, and Dain identified it as the Mace of Sundering, a magical mace capable of taking away its target's defenses.
