Session 19

Party decided to try to infiltrate Eldar's manor and Summer got in touch with her criminal contacts to find information about the layout of the manor.

Dain assisted Anlon in attaching the Crystal of Alacrity to his armor.

Tamas spoke with Kendel and agreed to send Ronan away with Kendel for training.

Tamas and Mai went to the city clerk and discovered no helpful information about undead activity in the area, but got a brief blurb about an event known as The Long Night from ages ago, and were told nobody ever discovered the cause. The clerk mentioned that the boys from the previous night they discovered in the woods who had been meddling with dark forces around a blue fire murdered their families. The party decided to leave them to their fate and not intervene.

Party decided to wait out the two days until Summer's contact returned with the information about the manor. Once the wait was over, Summer's contact met her in the Messy Cushion to give her a layout of the exterior and interior of the manor, as well as a duty roster. Using this information, Summer and Mai immediately set out for the manor and Mai used Pass Without Trace to make Summer a veritable ghost. Summer snuck into the manor relatively easy, almost too easily, and made it to Eldar's study, where she discovered that the study was immaculate, which made her suspicious. Nonetheless, she investigated Eldar's desk, where after unlocking a drawer, she discovered a logbook detailing where Marcel's body had been moved to. After finding this, five Enforcers bust down the door to Eldar's study, training their crossbows on Summer. They called out for other Enforcers claiming "The Elf is here!" Summer threw ball bearings at the window to shatter it and took a crossbow bolt in the shoulder before jumping out the window and sneaking back to the hole in the wall where they entered. Summer relayed the information she found to Mai and took off running for the forest where the logbook said Marcel's body could be found.

Upon receiving info about Marcel, the party decided to make for the location described by Summer. Tamas elected to get a false writ from Kendel stating he would be at a certain location near Wolfwater to act as a distraction so the city officials would not realize the party was in the city at the time of the break-in to Eldar's manor.

Party arrived at the forest where Marcel's body was said to be and attempted to camp for the night, but were attacked by Goblins riding wargs and a Hobgoblin Warlord. They managed to deal with the creatures, but took some heavy damage from the Warlord. The party then camped for the night and in the morning, sent a message via the Sending spell to Tamas alerting him of what had transpired and told him to come to their location. Party then located and dug up Marcel's body and used Speak with the Dead to commune with Marcel's spirit, where they learned the following information:

• Marcel was investigating Eldar's connection to Adamar.
• Marcel was killed by Adamar, an unknown Vesperkin, and an unknown Elf.
• Marcel recognized the unknown Elf enough to know that he lived in the haunted house in the residential quarter where the party previously found the mirror world.
• Marcel revealed that Adamar was watching the party and told Dain to look closely at the ring he wears (the Ring of Augury).

Dain cast Identify on all his rings and discovered the Ring of Augury was more than meets the eye, but could not determine the nature of the unknown magic on the item.
