Callamus
Callamus is the name given to the plane of travel created by the goddess, Aellor. This plane is parallel to the Material plane, as the Ethereal plane. There are several ways of accessing it, but only those who are highly skilled in magic can enter the plane directly. Most access it via minor spells that allow them to teleport short distances, which places you within the plane for a very short period of time, before ejecting you. Accessing Callamus directly requires the ability to Planedrift, which is a specific spell that allows you enter the plane and remain there. Callamus appears similar to the Ethereal plane, with the exception that there is no limit to how far you can see within the plane, and everything appears with a slight blue hue, with living creatures having a brilliant white color. Those traveling through Callamus by means of long-range teleportation spells will appear in Callamus rapidly traveling through a swirling tunnel of energy.
While within Callamus, most take the form of a creature capable of flight, usually in the form of a variety of species of bird. Each person may appear slightly different, and the species of bird may vary. Those who spend enough time within Callamus can learn to discern certain information about a person based on the form they take, such as their demeanor, alignment, or even their race when on the Material plane. This allows a person to fly freely to explore Aellorah rather than being confined to traveling to specific destinations as other spells permit. A creature may exit Callamus at any time by a mental command. Those within Callamus are confined to the bounds of Aellorah's atmosphere, and may not travel into the Void beyond.
Unfortunately, Callamus is not exempt from Emir's influence, and there are numerous predatory creatures within this plane, which presents a problem, as those within Callamus cannot effectively fight back given their modified forms. If spotted, you must be sure to fly quickly away. Though those who are unfamiliar with the plane often fall victim to these creatures. The most dominant predator within Callamus is surely the Ketrixa, a large predatory flying creature resembling a stingray with a large circular mouth on its underside that rapidly pursues those passing through Callamus and devours them whole.
