Belduniten

Belduniten is a rare metal found only under the mountains of southern Reshyk, particularly just north of Ilmerglain. It has a stark alabaster white color that makes it easy to spot by miners. It is a -reactive metal that reacts to animate Flow. When exposed to animate Flow by means of contact with blood, the metal becomes attuned to the identity of the creature whose blood it was exposed to. While attuned, it will glow in the presence of other creatures of the same species; so if a Letheni's blood makes contact with the metal, it will glow while within 60 ft. of any other Letheni. This property only functions while the blood is fresh, and the effect fades over time as the blood dries, vanishing completely after about an hour. Fulgurite can be used to obscure a creature from this metal's effects, as it blocks the emanations of animate Flow that the metal uses to detect the creature.

Properties

Material Characteristics

The metal is slightly softer and 20% lighter than iron and has a stark alabaster white color that makes it easy to locate. An ingot of Belduniten weighs approximately 8 lbs.

Compounds

Making an alloy out of this metal will allow the alloy to exhibit the same detection properties of the base metal, though its effective range will be reduced by an amount proportional to the concentration of Belduniten in the alloy. If the alloy is only 50% Belduniten, the range will be reduced to 30 ft.

Origin & Source

Belduniten is the result of a Wellspring eruption some time during the Age of the Founders.
