Lunar Lily

The Lunar Lily is a rare and mystical flower which blooms under the light of a full moon. There are various versions of the flower each associated with a different moon. The flower is claimed to be one of two favorites of the Goddess of Magic, Hirta. Current scholars claim the six petals of the lily symbolize the six phases of the moon, and its pale color is known to reflect the soft glow of the moon.

Once when the goddess Hirta, walked the mortal realm. Her love, Marklaban, brought her a bouquet of the rarest flowers in all the realms - Lunar Lilies and Moon Roses. These special flowers only bloomed under the light of a full moon, and were said to hold within them the secrets of the heavens.

Delighted with the gift, Hirta had the flowers planted around her temples, and took to tending them herself. Years passed, and the gardens flourished. Some claim that the idea for Hirta's three families came from strolling through the garden filled with Lunar Lilies and Moon Roses, for the plants themselves contained the secrets of the heavens.

And so, the story of Hirta and her love for Lunar Lilies and Moon Roses was passed down through generations, becoming a tale of love, magic, and the beauty of the moon. To this day, many still believe that these flowers hold within them the secrets of the goddess of magic, and that they bring blessings and good fortune to those who possess them.

Appearance and Origin

The Lunar Lily is a pale, six-petaled flower, like most Lily's, however it only blooms under the light of a full moon. This property has given it a mystical reputation, and many in Aegimius consider it a symbol of magic and mystery. While the origin of the flower is a mystery, there are those who claim the flower has a strong connection to Hirta.

Habitat

the Lunar Lily is difficult to cultivate and can only be found in the wild under specific conditions. Some say that it only blooms int he most enchanted of forests where the magic of the moon is at its greatest. Others claim we can only find it on sacred ground, protected by powerful wards and enchantments.

On For Storia, the flowers have grown within the Red Wood Forest, and Druids Grove's.

On Milleadh, the flowers have grown within a couple forests on Enod, the Blaene Woods and the Veiled Passage.

Uses

The plant is highly sought after by herbalists, alchemists, and magical practitioners for its unique properties and is often used in spells and potions. Dried petals are often ground into a fine powder for potions, or in herbal remedies being mixed with food. Many beauticians use the dried petals with make-up to provide an ethereal glow to the wearer.

Cultural Impact

The Lily is used in lunar rituals and is said to bring good fortune and positive energy to those who posses it. They weave fresh flowers and petals into wreaths, garlands and floral crowns during full moon festivals in honor of the Moon Weaver.

For the few followers of Hirta that remain, they often include the Lunar Lilies in the wedding ceremonies to signify a blessing by the goddess. Many druids and worshipers of the Wild Mother present the flower as offerings the day after the full moon ceremony, allowing the land to take back that which has grown.
