Yaboni

Nomadic humans who live in the Northlands, they are composed of five major tribes. The sworn enemy of the Orcish Horde.

Society

The Yaboni live in a constant state of strife and struggle with their orc and goblin neighbors. Incessant warfare has prevented the tribes from competing technologically, economically, and geographically with their Kingdom neighbor, but the sacrifice is not without its benefits. Yaboni huntsmen are renown throughout the continent as the foremost experts in tracking and survival, an attribute that many a powerful or wealthy outsider has tried to recruit or exploit. The Yaboni, however, live a simple but contented existence within the Orcish highlands, realized with a certain accuracy that you can never have too many orc heads sticking on pikes in your front yard. Indeed, combat prowess has become a status symbol in Yaboni society of survivalism, and while the huntsmen are not intentionally bent on the genocide of the orc race, it can seem that way to outsiders. In 180 KE, the Epinoin Tribe was wiped out by the Wolfdweller orcs, save for one young apprentice, Mordai. Two years later, Mordai sealed a bargain with the Ageless known as Azzerrad, who resurrected the Epinoin fallen as thralls under Mordai's command.

Political Structure

The five Yaboni tribes live in different regions of the southern highlands but they stand on friendly and united terms with one another, bound into blood pact against a common aggressor. The notable exception to this, however, is the Dwindle-Hammer clan, a splinter group from the Vol’Tan that was exiled over two hundred years ago for their dissenting views on Yaboni society. Recently, under the new leadership of Chief Earthsunder, the Dwindle-Hammer tribe has begun to reconcile its differences with the Que’Har, Sons of Faethor, and the Epinoin, but tensions with the Vol’Tan are still persistent. The tribes are (generally) in an uneasy truce, with a advisory/peace-keeping council of Chieftains known as the Kupalo.
