The Eryis Breach Containment
Though it wasn't a large scale conflict or campaign, in 1497, over the course of four months from Mazi to Venata, deep in the nation of Waston there was an event. Only a day or so from the capital of Rydan, a small village known as Eryis was wiped out. A few hundred people simply ceased to be, the act of a Void Cult that had escaped notice in this sleepy fishing village. Where once there had been people and a small, but thriving fishing village, there was now only smouldering ash and a gash in the sky, like that of a tear, with the air around it still, with cracks, almost as if a smashed mirror. This gash flickered, and vibrated, showing it was unstable, yet whatever had torn apart the village, ripped and burned it in an instant, had unleashed enough death, spilled enough blood, to tear an opening into the Void. Specifically into the realm of Iracundia, the Blood-Drenched Arenas. Though the tear was unstable, clearly not long for this world by Void wound standards, the reality was 'not long' could mean weeks or months. And every day more entities would cross over. Military forces were deployed near immediately from Rydan and thus the containment operation began. Troops were pulled in from other cities and garrisons in the coming weeks, as the beasts of blood poured out, seeking violence and battle, and the Wastonian Military forces tight cordon ensured they found what they sought immediately. However amidst the horror of this assignment for the men and women on the ground, the endless near non-stop fighting, having to find sleep in short, paranoid shifts on and off, whilst protecting magisters whom did all they could to further destabilize the portal, accelerate its closing, this operation would prove to be an important testing ground.

The Conflict
Prelude
There was no real warning and to this day it is unclear what exactly happened in that village. The Magisters whom later, after the tear collapsed on itself and the military swept the village remains thoroughly to insure nothing had remained behind hidden amongst the wreckage, investigated came to a consensus that is still accepted. Based on the patterns of the damage, the burns seeming as if originating from a point a little north of the center of the village, in what would seem to have been a chapel which doubled as the school for local children, it is presumed it was the Touch. Likely a child that had not been discovered or turned in after exhibiting signs of the Touch by Arcanis whom had sadly been pyromantically touched and simply, in a fit of emotion, perhaps bullied and pushed to far, or perhaps due to some great excitement about something to do with the day, they simply opened their connection to Doitean without any filtering, or restriction and lost control in a violent explosion of Void-Tainted Fire. In a blink several hundred souls consumed in wrath and flame, it was an unavoidable outcome what would come.
Deployment
Magi-Cutter rounds, about a thousand rounds of rifle ammunition that was specially made, a core of lead and a thin alloyed iron and obsidian jacket. The theory was, and it was at the time only a theory, that this small amount of obsidian, potent stuff when it comes to magick, with enough rounds on target, could banish a Beast of the Black, overcome its hooks and tethers that it creates allowing it to manifest in a form upon reality.
The details of this four months are still quite shrouded in secrecy, the operation is heavily redacted and heavily censored. However it is clear that the tests were successful in that now, nearly a century later, you would be hard pressed to find a military that does not keep this pattern of ammunition in noticeable though not massive quantities. They are not standard issue kit, and are generally stored on major bases unless they are needed and this is in large part due to both the cost of making them, and the limited supply of true proper obsidan at any given time. But it would be a fair estimate to say that every major military has several thousand rounds of such ammunition spread out and stored at various military installations under their control.
