Rydan

The city of Rydan is a unique city in many ways, but perhaps its most unique aspect is the sheer height of its brilliance, and yes that is meant in the literal sense. Rydan is built almost as a self contained fortress of technology and steel amongst the thickness of the wild jungles of Wyrielian continent. Its towering heights and impossible structures soar generationally up and beyond even the canopy of the jungle itself. Each layer more brilliant and advanced than the last, much of the roads and walkways powered by magitech, a tour of each generation of refinement and advancement of that technological field. From first generations of engines able to move and hold stable platforms and folding walkways, to continued hovering machinery keeping entire systems of walkways and paths stable at higher tiers. The city has five layers at current time, representing the four generations of this technological field, and of course the part of the city down in the dark under it all, known as the Rundowns.

As one approaches Rydan either by boat, airship or road, from the distance it can seem a gleaming, shining beacon of progress and stability. The city can seem a technological marvel, watching various sky-ships, automotans and other devices against the backdrop of this metal and illuminated behemoth of a city almost glowing with magitech energy. However as one enters from the ground, or descended between its layers, the tale changes, each layer from the top becoming more rundown, less maintained and subsequently a seedier less reputable and run down area. This culminates within the darker conditions of the Rundowns, where sunlight flickers through the jungle and steel canopies rarely and though ambient light pollution from above both artifical and natural does insure visibility, it is always an eerie sort of twilight amongst what can only be best described by the district's name. Rundown, grinding, grimy, worn out technology, structures and people.

"Technology lifts all, aye, perhaps, but it doesn't lift us all equally now does it there, chief. Some of us poor sods gotta stay down on the various levels previous to keep it all running now don't we. So let's save that tripe for the areas up top aye, and lets keep our talk straight gears an' business down 'ere."
