The Spiders of the Vesve Forest

The Vesve Forest is the largest continuous hardwood forest in the Flanaess, and while the forest is split between many factions, all beware the large, semi-intelligent spiders that haunt the depths of the forest.    These arachnids measure, when fully grown, between 2 and 3 feet in diameter not including their legs. Most extend past six full feet from leg-tip to leg-tip with a bulbous abdomin and large, multifaceted eyes. Their mandibles can grush a mans leg and can inject a paralytic venom strong enough to immobilize a cow.   Their lairs are a nightmare of webs and silk-wrapped husks of old meals, causing whole swathes of the deep forest to be shrouded in darkness as the block the sunlight from reaching the forest floor. They live in family groups and hunt in packs, driving the unwitting prey into their web traps where they can be easily bitten and injected. Once paralyzed, the broods roll their soon-to-be meals into silken coccons and hang them from the trees.
