Adventure Forest

Over the past couple years, an augmented reality game called "Adventure Forest" has been gaining in popularity. Players around the world can create heroes to fight monsters and get treasures.   The most recent in-game event, named the Autumn Altercation, garnered more participants than ever before, with groups of adventurers meeting at parks to battle waves of evil scarecrow constructs. Upon achieving victory, players were sent a message announcing they had unlocked a secret event named "The Convergence."   On the day of The Convergence, players were outraged to discover that the game had deleted itself entirely. Shortly afterward they had bigger things to worry about as the monsters from the game began appearing in the real world, usually in the vicinity of players. Players quickly discovered that they now had access to the skills and items of their in-game characters, further contributing to the chaos.   Meanwhile, other inhabitants of the forest -- or Terra, as they called their realm -- also began appearing. Enchanted item shops wedged themselves next to the supermarket while villages popped up at the edges of cities. The Terrans weren't too fazed at being teleported through strange portals, but quickly became curious about the strange land they found themselves in.   Our world is struggling with the sudden influx of what appears to be a video game come to life. The Terrans are confused by our technology and social customs. Where the two come in conflict, adventurers are caught squarely in the middle.
