Striped Box Nut
This striped nut is shaped like a cube with distinguished markings on them that define them. The way this fantastical nut got its name is somewhat self explanatory but there are some important things to clear up. This nut does not have to have strips more often than not they are just markings like splotches not stripes. This nut is also commonly used not only as food but in many folk medicines and herbal treatments. It is believed by many medical professionals to have some medicinal properties but they can never agree on what it does. Ideas range from headache cures to assistance with overcoming nervousness and fear. From some superstitions it is now customary for soldiers to have some alcohol made from the stripped nut before battle and performers to eat a meal of stripped bread before a performance. Stripped bread is customarily made by making a loaf of bread out of Striped Box Nut flour and baking it in a square then dusting it lightly in patterns with sugar or other powder. The tree this nut comes from the informatively named striped tree which is a short tree that grows mostly in the South-West parts of Vashyae its wood is not good for building but can be good firewood if necessary. The use of this as a major food supplies is fairly restricted to the south but it is a fun luxury as its wines and breads spread throughout the continent. In other areas they have different food supplies; places like Steyle they focus mostly on fishing and trading in the town but the loggers have to rely more on hunting and gathering food from the forests. In Woodworth they have sustainable farming and some hunting, mostly for animal pelts and small game. All in all the Striped Box Nut is an amazing item that has loads of cultural significance and a deep history.
