Anduril
Anduril is a divine artifact and sword wielded by the Templar Knight, Ser Aisryn Verric. The blade itself was forged with crucible steel, with high levels of carbon, and bears a ripple-like pattern across the metal as a result of the folding and cooling techniques used during its forging process.
Including the grip and pommel, the entire sword is 120 cm long and weighs approximately 3 lbs. The handle and crossguard are electrum-coated, crucible steel, with a grip made of tanned leather wrapped around the handle. The pommel has been changed several times as the sword passed from one family member to the next in the Verric line. The latest is a ruby gemstone held in an electrum brace.
The sword is a family heirloom of the Verrics, a noble house that occupies the county seat of Drustic in southwest Astor. As the Verrics tell it: hundreds of years ago, a family ancestor impressed a nephilim of Sagus with their martial prowess in a duel without magic. The nephilim awarded the victor three enchantments to his sword. Being a Templar of the Brotherhood of Azra, the man chose enchantments befitting his station and oath. Fittingly, the sword has always been handed down to a Verric that has sworn an oath to the same Templar Brotherhood, with Ser Aisryn being the latest wielder.
Invocation Enchantments
Like all divine artifacts, the sword was enchanted by nephilim. Anduril possesses three separate enchantments that can be invoked by the wielder, so long as they can use invocation magic. These enchantments include Purification, Light, and Judgment.- Purification - Using the "purify evil" invocation, Anduril acts as a conduit for the spell and deals increased damage to undead foes, and burns the bodies of undead creatures. While the invocation is active, the blade glows a golden-white.
- Light - Using the "divine light" invocation, Anduril's blade glows an intense white to light the surrounding area and deals increased damage to dark-aligned foes, and also cuts through dark-aligned magic protections.
- Judgment - Using the "Azra's judgment" invocation, Anduril's blade glows with a cool, blue-white light and deals increased damage against human or chimeric foes, and also pulses white when the enchantment detects a spoken lie or falsity.
