High Senator Ibrahim Faez

Ibrahim was born into a middle class Saudi Arabian family in the early 2160s, in the the port city of Dhahran. His father was a school teacher, and his mother worked for one of the local state owned oil companies. He was the youngest of 3 brothers, Ali, and Salman. Saudi Arabia had remained surprisingly well off following the 3rd world war, and had been able to maintain good relations with most world powers, as they were one of the few remaining nations with still plentiful oil reserves. This gave them the upper hand in negotiations, and their government would often price gouge their buyers, charging them heftily per barrel, filling the Saudi coffers with money and making them one of the richest nations on earth at the time. These same oil reserves which granted them this great wealth however would also be the cause for their neighbors invasion of the region following instability from multiple fundamentalist uprisings in the region. Over night, the young Ibrahim's life was changed forever as bombers laid waste to his city and forced his family to flee from their home, forcing him and his family to join a great march of over 100,000 refugees heading through the harsh deserts towards their neighbor, Qatar. Thousands died during the journey. After nearly a week of walking, dodging foreign troops and dangerous rebel fighters, they reached the border of Qatar, where they were promptly told to turn back by its troops stationed at the border. Deemed too much of a burden to take care of, and for the threat of bringing "The New Plague" into their country, the leadership of their neighbor chose to not let them enter. 
The march continued downward, towards the UAE, where they were also told to turn back after losing thousands more to heat exhaustion and dehydration. They then turned towards Oman, praying to find relief there after weeks of walking. It was during this 3rd journey that his middle brother, Ali, died from dehydration. The experience of this shook him to his very core, and he was in a daze for several days following Ali's death, and he would have frequent nightmares of it for the rest of his life. Finally, at Oman they received reprieve from the desert, greeted by soldiers armed with hot meals and bottled water. But of the 128,000 refuges that they had left with at the beginning of their journey, only 67,000 had reached the safety of Oman. These experiences at the age of only 11 would forever shape his views of the world, and the death of his brother would put a great strain on his family.
