Aciean (A-see-en)

Etymology Aciean is a name given to people hailing from Actium and its colonies. There is no specific ethnic group that they are a part of and is instead a blanket term giving to the descendants of those who fled during the second wave of evacuations and made their way to Actium. Some people from the colonies the federation integrated preferred to be called by their own names, but it slowly became accepted by them.   **Culture**   Aciean culture is difficult to study as there are so many variations among the groups. An Aciean from New Rome is usually of European ancestry and celebrates Christmas. Another from Riyadh is usually Arab and celebrates Eid. Most have maintained the beliefs of their ancestors, while also growing to accept the beliefs of the other groups, resulting in a melding of short. Some have wondered one day, that if given enough time and the right conditions, the cultures of Actium will one day fully converge with one another, forming a new culture comprising all of human beliefs. Some have speculated, with good reason, that the one thing that bonded together all these different groups of humans with conflictual beliefs, was a sense of grief over the loss of Earth. The lands they had long identified themselves with were gone, inhospitable to human life. There was a loss of self with the death of Earth. Humanity found solace in each other and finally, there was a sense of belonging to one another that pervading the entire Human race. A unifying identity that stands above ethnicity, and culture.   Beliefs that do however expand across all of the Acieans is mutual respect for other humans. The death of a human, even if they are a stranger with no name, is saddening to Acieans, and they will try to ensure the body is taken care of according to the person's beliefs. Aciean can be described prominently as Humanist. It has taken on two different in recent years... Aliens are not often extending the same courtesy, and are not treated as equals very often.

Food is also held in high esteem by Acieans.
