The White Saint's Birth

The White Saint remains to this day one of the most controversial figures of ancient history; its presence in stories and its credits to various technological, magical and medicinal developments are all near-impossible to achieve during a normal lifespan, if not outright simply unbelievable. Discourse around this mythical figure has split academia in many factions - some believe the Saint to be a pagan god, others theorize that there were more Saints than one, each of them leading society forward.

The story of the White Saint's birth, however, is generally regarded as pure fiction, the product of many other myths crystallizing into one single tale. Both historians and philologists agree that the tale of his birth is false, as it contains bits and pieces of other mythological births. The leading theory regarding the apparition and the spreading of this story is that, once the Continent was united under the flag of the Old Medeean Empire, the many tales of great heroes were melded together into one, an attempt at wiping over the culture of the defeated nations through assimilation.

Summary

While every corner of the Continent has its own version of the story, scholars have outlined the commonly found parts of the myth into a coherent, albeit lackluster story. The tale begins with a double eclipse - the sun was completely covered by the larger moon, Busoya, which was covered by the smaller moon, Fig. During that event, in the depths of darkness and hidden between the trees of a forest, a young woman gave birth to a pale child, all alone on the wet folliage. The legend says that the very first act the Saint did after birth was to touch the skin of his mother and, with a warm and shining power, to heal her wounds and ease her pain. As he did that, the moons moved away, and he was blessed by the sunrays, ushering an age of light and warmth for Meridian.
