The White Heart Sisterhood
The White Heart SIsterhood is a nonprofit organization that helps the people of the Golden Kingdom of Vahlaasas. Its members work together across the entire country to provide support to villages and small communities struck by disaster and misfortune - they help with anything from fixing broken mills to building temporary shelters in areas afflicted by war. Their banner is a symbol of hope for the many faithful of Vahlaasas; their volunteers carry the gentle love and care of their beloved goddess, acting as stalwart protectors of the impoverished and the unlucky.
All volunteers must be part of the Vahliimist clergy, or at least work jobs for the Church, be it housekeeping for the priests and priestesses, gardening, cleaning the chapels and so on. This is because the organization is sponsored solely by the Church, which acts as a parent organization; if a branch would start hiring from outside, they could risk losing their funding, or even be excommunicated. As everything else that regards Vahlsh politics and religion, everything the Sisterhood does is strictly monitored by higher-up priests and bishops.
Public Agenda
The Sisterhood has a vert clear purpose: to help as much as possible the struggling people of the country. Year after year, their work changes the lives of hundreds and even thousands for the better by doing the work nobody wants to do - or is incapable of doing without a lot of supporting people. Every faithful that works for the Church (or around it) is welcomed with open arms; many young acolytes join the forces to offer their help... and maybe earn favors from the overseeing bishops.
What most people don't know is that the Sisterhood is secretly used by the Hidden Order of the Midnight Dagger, the shadow order of the Church, tasked with espionage, counter-espionage, assassinations and dealing with heretic magic and artifacts. Every branch of the White Heart Sisterhood has at least one person of contact for the Hidden Order, making communications as fast as they could possibly be. Many times, the Church will send small groups of volunteers from the capital to the different branches in order to conceal the movements of their secret agents.
