Mitraxis Lily

Regarded as the most beautiful flower by the people of the Meridian plane, the Mitraxis Lily is a species of lily that grows exclusively on the Other Side of the World, in close proximity of the Rift. It's a terrestrial perennial plant with brightly-colored purple and pink petals, featuring shimmering blue stamens, rich in mana, that glow in the dark with a pale cyan light.

As the rest of the flora and fauna of the Rift, the Mitraxis Lily has evolved to live in extreme environments that pose multiple threats to others. Because of its scarcity (and because it is almost impossible to grow in other habitats), the lily had been used during the Old Medeean Empire as a symbol of status and beauty, its colors - second to none across the Continent, its almost mythical existence - the subject of many ballads, and a metaphor in many love sonnets. While the status has persisted, the plant has gained a practical usage in the research and development of mana-preserving biomass, both spearheaded by the Exalted mages and Elders of the Exarhi University.

Depending on the region, the Mitraxis Lily is also known as Mana-Eating Bloom, Imperial Lily, Ethereal Lily and Manashine. The purple-pink petals feature white canals, thinner than hair, that help the plant with reproduction. Its perfume is well-known as a sweet and flowery scent that helps people relax; however, if extracted, the essence of the flower is highly psychoactive.
